Has anyone been to Cornwall??

We’ve been on the road since 3AM and are expected to arrive at our lodge in St Ives at 5.30PM due to awful traffic :bawling:

So, anyone been before?? Did you enjoy it? Was it SHIT?

Cornwall is fantastic

I hope you have your Covid test kits with you all
Cornwall has warned all to take them with their journey

Cornwall is beautiful, so many sights to see

AnnieK 23-07-2021 11:02 AM

Love Cornwall - some gorgeous beaches

Have a great time.....the traffic on the A34 is always really busy - it took me 10.5 hours to get home last time I went down there but was worth it.

LeatherTrumpet 23-07-2021 11:05 AM

literally the worst place to drive to

Babayaro. 23-07-2021 11:06 AM

When we leave a week today, I’m working a 12.5 hour shift the next day (Saturday)

While you're there go to Tintagel!!

Are you talking about those seemingly never ending ‘unnamed’ country roads that only allow ONE vehicle so if you meet a tractor you have to reverse about half a mile !!

first thing to do is buy some rock, get some chips and wash it all down with 6 pints of Stella

then have lunch

ThomasC 23-07-2021 11:43 AM

Oh god, that's long.

Nope, but I have heard it's beautiful.

I am leaving soon for Manchester. I am hoping it doesn't take too long.

Suppose to be there for half 4....

If you're into art, check out the Tate Gallery/Barbara Hepworth Museum. The gallery is right on the beach and the views are beautiful!

Never been
But I know it seems a popular holiday destination

Shaun 23-07-2021 02:36 PM

It's pretty nice. I live in Devon though so it doesn't feel like that much of a "lovely coastal getaway" as it does to the rest of the country

Many moons ago, my wife saw an ad in the London Evening Standard for a round trip from London Waterloo to Penzance on a sleeper train, returning anytime within 3 or 4 days by regular train, but going into Paddington.
It wasn’t a fortune, so on a whim I bought two tickets.
The sleeper train was great, I made sure of a good night’s sleep by wrapping myself around many glasses of vodka.
We arrived in Penzance around 08.00 I think, and found a diner for some scrambled eggs and ham.
Then we just strolled around the town kind of aimlessly, eventually ending up in a pub, (as usual).
My wife wanted to get a bus to Lands End or somewhere, but not having seen a red double-decker bus or black cab for a while, I was getting withdrawal symptoms, so we took a train back around 14.00 or 15.00.
It took five hours plus, and although I found little wrong with Cornwall, I felt like kissing the ground at Paddington.

Actually Marc there are big storms and all sorts heading for Cornwall in the next 2 days. You may notice the wind when you arrive and you may be woken up in the night with a big storm. 2 days of lively weather ahead

keep away from the sea

Babayaro. 23-07-2021 04:09 PM

Not since my dad did a job for someone in 1976 and took a weeks holiday as part payment on the electricals he was doing in some remote cottage down that way(find out where tomorrow parmy)

My only memory is feeling dizzy with the wobbly floors in the room I had in the cottage, and falling off a stone dyke with my summer shorts on, straight into a cluster of 3 foot nettles on the 1st day.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters 24-07-2021 12:21 AM
