NGL I thought he was dead, so really, having his show cancelled is a win for him in my books.

Excluded was he? How very inclusive of Sheffield City Hall. Such an inclusive establishment, I bet they promote how inclusive they are, obviously, as we can see, that would be a lie if they did.

Chubby's crime? Attempting to entertain people by making them laugh.

Mystic Mock 05-09-2021 02:29 PM

Why did they cancel his Show?

there must be a good reason for cancelling his show, otherwise if a wrong decision it could be turned back i think

Fear of blame by either the venue or council

Okay I don't know much about this guy, so I'm genuinely curious when I ask this question.

What's he said that's racist?

I tried googling and found a few interviews. Honestly, just the usual thick-as-mince stuff... like the comments section of a DM article about Brexit. Nothing unique or clever or controversial or cutting... just bog standard stuff.

Are we sure his show was cancelled because it's too "controversial", and not just because it's dated, recycled, and unfunny?

He's a national treasure who has been packing out places like Sheffield City Hall for decades. He's a blue comedian, he tells blue jokes. Says a lot of C words in his act, but his fans, who he has many of all over the World, love his act.

So somebody has decided that needs to be stopped because it will make them feel better about themselves to stop it, stuff his fans, the public, they don't get a say in it, the silly peasants. .

Was "cancelled" the word you wanted to hear instead?

Use whatever word you want, but he hasn't been cancelled or stopped. It's a venue funded by the public, so they are free to not want someone who'll tell a load of "jokes" about the diverse group of folks that help fund it.

There are plenty of privately funded venues available for him to perform at.

By letting him Go live
would be good for the region.

They are making trouble.

LaLaLand 05-09-2021 03:45 PM

I saw him live before a few years back and he’s mostly just crude in his offensiveness. No race/sexuality jokes came up that I recall.

Wasn’t anywhere near as bad as Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle when I saw them. How they get away with some of their material and manage to sustain careers on TV I’ll never know. :omgno:

What if the some other people were concerned about a gay pride event, should those people have the equal amount of power as these people, to cancel the event. Or should those people have less power?

Homophobes shouldn't be given power, you shouldn't need to be told that.

Alf 05-09-2021 04:00 PM

The generation who claim and virtue signal how inclusive they are, always seem to be cheering on someone being excluded.

That's why your politics always gets trounced at the ballot box.
