Nobody compares. He was a one off. Bono is 4 or 5 divisions below The King.

Alf 29-07-2022 11:37 PM

As great as Freddie Mercury was, he still falls short of The King.

Pffft.

Bono is elvis reborn. Even though he was alive when elvis died.

Alf 29-07-2022 11:44 PM

If it wasn't for Elvis then my "Tibb's favourite band" wouldn't even exist.

Rock music wouldn't have taken off without the presence of Elvis. It may have been there in some form but it wouldn't have hit the mainstream without Elvis.

Elvis has a better discography in the first 5 years of his career than U2 have in their entire 40 year career.

Alf 29-07-2022 11:49 PM

Only The Beatles can better Elvis and Elvis was a big influence on them.

You never see McCartney or Lennon with jagger.

Beso 29-07-2022 11:55 PM

I love the Rolling Stones but even The Beatles would see The Stones a level below them.

Lennon and McCartney were writing songs for the Rolling Stones before Jagger and Richards learned how to write songs.

Check out Eric Claptons out of his face wobbly jaw in that video. Lennon is off his tits too.

Bono has sang and collaborated with a fair percentage of the biggest and most successful artists in the world. From Springsteen to Jagger, or Sinatra to Cash, with a little bit of willie Nelson thrown in.

Only other person those mentioned would all, as a unit collaborate with. Is Elvis.

Lennon wouldnt have lasted the pace like McCartney has.

Hes even brought in the best of the new breed in their early days in on that song, to cover his bad playing.

No way he would have lasted as a front man. No chance at all

That's a member from probably the 4 biggest bands on the planet at the time. Lennon from The Beatles, Richards from The Stones, Clapton from Cream and Mitchell from The Jimi Hendrix Experience. All off their faces at the very peak of rock music in the late 60s.

Elvis was when, 56? So that is 66 years ago. U2 are let's say 76 for easy counting, but I think it was 77(I will check wiki tomorrow) and the Beatles are say 1960..

Elvis is the king, that's obvious.

And bonos duration hasnt relied on his old songs.

Beso 30-07-2022 12:28 AM

Can we change the question to which U2 song would you compare to the beatles, yellow submarine.

Yes you do, there are many pics of Jagger with The Beatles, Parmy, Elvis never did it for me or Bono but each to their own

Vanessa 30-07-2022 07:04 AM

Maybe Freddie Mercury. He was just amazing. Love both.

thesheriff443 30-07-2022 07:09 AM

Elvis actually considered Roy Orbison to be better than him

And I would say go and have listen to Roy, his voice was pure silk.

bots 30-07-2022 08:15 AM

Crimson Dynamo 30-07-2022 08:19 AM

Now that's actually a good shout. Roy has a voice like no other. Roy would be the second greatest front man for me behind Elvis.

Alf 30-07-2022 09:52 AM

Speaking of Bono, Bono absolutely worships Roy Orbison.

thesheriff443 30-07-2022 10:05 AM

I didn’t really rate bono until I saw him and the edge perform stuck in a moment on David letterman’s, the song is about Michael hutchins

Worth a listen.
