Middle girl LT (vegan) makes me a great salad and I have it with a Venison grill steak. In fact I am going to have that tonight now

Cherie 11-08-2022 01:54 PM

Alf how could you be cooking in this weather, every night I produce a salad, Mr C has grown bunny ears :hehe:

The Slim Reaper 11-08-2022 01:56 PM

I'm all about the dressing. You need a delicious olive oil, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard and runny honey mix.

Chop your salad up small, so even cherry toms are in qtrs, then peppers, red onion, sweetcorn, toms, lettuce, and cucumber.

Crimson Dynamo 11-08-2022 01:59 PM

I like a sun-dried tomato

I'm protesting your poll because you left out Cress.

Poor little cress never did anyone any harm to deserve that kind of treatment.

Crimson Dynamo 11-08-2022 02:01 PM

Is there a minimum number we have to use, because Niamh won't think it's a valid salid otherwise

Alf 11-08-2022 02:35 PM

I hate Salad cream and it should be banned. Disgusting stuff.

Niamh. 11-08-2022 03:31 PM

Tomatoes would be a worthy winner if it were a competition though :hee:

Jordan. 11-08-2022 03:39 PM

Other options - cheese/feta and crispy onions

Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad

https://cdn.loveandlemons.com/wp-con...ad-580x725.jpg

Ingredients
4 cups shaved Brussels sprouts
¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
¼ cup fresh lemon juice
½ cup pine nuts, toasted
⅓ cup dried cranberries
⅓ cup grated pecorino cheese, optional
⅓ cup chopped chives
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions
Thinly slice the Brussels sprouts using a mandoline if you have one. Place them into a
medium bowl and toss with the olive oil, lemon juice, pine nuts, cranberries, pecorino
cheese, chives, and pinches of salt and pepper.

Let the salad sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then taste and adjust the
seasonings. Finish with an additional drizzle of olive oil if you like. Wash
down with 2 bottles of refreshing white wine.

That would go through me like a ferrari. In one end and out the other before you could say Blueberry pie.

Alf 11-08-2022 05:35 PM

I'm glad to see celery left out. That's grotesque.

The options I went for (with the ‘other’ part signifying in my case Greek yoghurt or any other possible dressings I actually like, none of which were listed in the poll) are the ones I like from that list. I’d rather just have plain-ish coleslaw most of the time.
