'I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more' Tom Jones Banned

[Bye, bye, bye Delilah: Wales rugby choirs banned
from singing Tom Jones hit
Song dropped from playlists over
‘problematic subject matter’
WRU facing recent allegations
of ‘toxic’ culture and misogyny]

[But with the WRU reeling from allegations
of a “toxic” culture and misogyny the
governing body has responded to claims
that it promotes violence against
women by banning it.
The song includes
the lyric: “She stood there laughing/
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more.”]

Yes you Bugger,
you murdered her

[The Welsh Rugby Union has ordered
the 1968 Sir Tom Jones hit Delilah
to be removed from its Principality Stadium
choirs’ song list on the eve of the 2023 Six Nations.

The pop song about a jealous lover stabbing
his unfaithful paramour has been lustily
sung by Welsh fans and become something
of an alternative sporting anthem.]

I just don’t see how they can prevent thousands of fans singing the song whenever they feel like it ..

They said the same thing on the news this morning.

They have just stopped it being sang by official choirs or played into the stadiums but they know it will continue to be sung by the fans initially

bots 02-02-2023 01:43 PM

pesky fans

It is Banned Officially

But Fans will Sing It

Alf 02-02-2023 03:18 PM

Tom Jones was asked if he thought this decision was normal.

He replied by saying "in this day and age, it's not unusual"

It is a pretty disturbing lyric, to be fair.

GoldHeart 02-02-2023 03:24 PM

For goodness sake, it's just a song.

No more disturbing than an Agatha Christie Novel, a horror movie or an episode of Eastenders.

Let's just ban everything then the World will be a better place.

bots 02-02-2023 03:24 PM

it's not banned. A choir won't sing it at matches, that's not banning it

How far do we go with banning songs then ? , There's alot of vulgar & disturbing lyrics in other songs ?.

It's funny how Delilah is seen as being too 'violent' , but little girls are singing cardi B WAP on tiktok & boys are happily singing to every rap song out there .

After all the allegations of misogyny and abuse of women levelled at the WRU, they've responded by banning fans singing a song. Genius.

bots 02-02-2023 04:32 PM

this is why they are doing it .........

The Welsh Rugby Union is facing allegations of sexism and discrimination that have left the MP and former Wales international Tonia Antoniazzi expressing “great concerns” over the women’s game in the country. A number of former WRU employees have taken part in an investigation by BBC Wales, to be screened on Monday night, making accusations about their time at the governing body.

Charlotte Wathan, the general manager of women’s rugby until her resignation last February, claims offensive comments by a colleague left her in tears and feeling sick. Another, unnamed, contributor says she was left contemplating suicide by her experiences of bullying and sexism at work, according to BBC Wales Investigates. Incidents of racism and homophobia are also alleged.

The WRU said an “amicable resolution” had been reached with Wathan “satisfying both parties” after an investigation by an external law firm. It said a confidentiality agreement between the parties prevented further details. It noted that another of the complaints had been investigated and subsequently withdrawn, while new information included in the broadcast would be “followed up and acted upon”.

A spokesperson said: “The Welsh Rugby Union condemns the use of racist, homophobic or sexist language and states in the strongest possible terms that racism, homophobic, sexist or bullying behaviour has no place in Welsh rugby.”

A statement said: “It is vitally important to note that we have a duty of care as employers to both the complainants and those complained against. That duty of care continues and we are deeply concerned about the effect of this programme on those individuals in respect of the fact the allegations described remain unsubstantiated following a thorough independent legal investigation.”

They have to be seen to be doing something other than attend functions to justify the high salaries they pay themselves.

Alf 02-02-2023 04:41 PM

Great song

Not banned on Tibb

Right about what??? .
Let's ban cardi b's WAP & every rapper song then ??? :hee: .

Alf 02-02-2023 04:48 PM

The lyric doesn't suggest he was gonna use it on her. He just had a knife in his hand. Maybe he was about to chop some onions?

Right about you, yesterday you were worried about the dangers and influence over Sam Smith’s song, now today you’re back to ‘it’s just a song’, making it very clear what your real problem was with it, so predictable

Mystic Mock 02-02-2023 04:57 PM

If anyone is physically harming women because they listened to Delilah, then they were already a ****ed up individual anyway.

I feel like we're honestly going backwards with some of these decisions being made, I honestly won't be shocked that when GTA VI comes out that it isn't much more reserved just to avoid all of this pathetic drama.

Maybe he was trying to create a song with a darker tone to it? Which should be allowed.

Are you actually feeling ok ??

There's plenty of innapropriate songs ,but where do you draw the line ??.

And as far as I know....I never saw Tom Jones performing anything visually crossing the line .

Yes
glad you have the USA Color version

user104658 02-02-2023 05:13 PM

I mean the song is literally about a man killing a woman for cheating on him and arguing that it's her own fault for "making him crazy" with her actions - a classic time-old excuse used by abusers and people who murder their partners.

But I guess if people like that sort of thing that's on them :umm:. Forum's descending further into Redpill misogyny by the day it seems. Remember when The Truth got banned for his aggressive misogyny and we mostly understood why that was justified?

He'd fit right in these days :joker:. Let's invite him back. At least he was unintentionally funny.
