Good idea LT

If Labour can make some headway in Scotland, they'll have more chance of forming a government. May as well lay the foundations as the SNP goes to the dogs.

He has literally picked up Wee Nic's torch without changing course even slightly, it's bizarre, how can he possibly imagine that public opinion has had a significant shift in a matter of weeks?

What am I missing when people say Sturgeon is a great politician?
That she is a great orator. :hehe: I see all kinds of people praising her 'skills'. I just don't see it. All I see is a very bland politician. Nothing special about her at all. |

AN independence campaign group of genuine nutters has branded the language
used by Nicola Sturgeon in her resignation letter to the King as “deeply disturbing”. In her letter, the former first minister signed off by saying: “I have the honour to be, Sir, Your Majesty's humble and obedient servant." Sturgeon also wrote it had been “my pleasure to serve Your Majesty, Her Majesty the Queen and the people of Scotland”. All Under One Banner (AUOB) took to social media to condemn the language in the letter and said it should be a “heads up” to self-declared republican and incoming first minister Humza Yousaf, who was selected by the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday afternoon.

In all seriousness though I agree with their stance - they're not taking a particular side on what the outcome of a debate around the GRR should be ... they're lamenting the fact that the SNP have taken a "no debate" stance and sent away academics, professionals and organisations (not just Twitter rabble) with real concerns, with a dismissive wave of the hand. It just generates more distrust and anger.

Humza Yousless instead of appointing a Transport secretary he has appointed a junior transport minister who cannot drive. He has also appointed a minster of independence on £100k a year.
A Cabinet minister – such as Neil Gray – will get £116,759, as Cabinet Secretary for Wellbeing, Economy, Fair Work and Energy and what that is i have no clue. |
"Independence minister" is a ludicrous appointment tbh.
To be fair though I imagine most Transport stuff related to public transport rather than roads, so "not being able to drive" is potentially a plus. Better to have a minister for public transport who actually uses public transport. My wife had to take her car in for MOT today and get a bus home ... I think it's going to take her a while to get over the trauma. |
Sturgeon AGAIN denies she is a Lesbian
https://images.ctfassets.net/pjshm78...e256106_header Ms Sturgeon yesterday said scurrilous social media gossip had prompted her to want more anonymity. In particular, she shot down online claims that she was the proud owner of an expensive global property portfolio, as well as being a 'secret lesbian'. In one account often repeated on the internet, users say she engaged in an extra-marital relationship with a female French diplomat. Some of the rumours allege the pair bought tennis legend Judy Murray's old house in Bridge of Allan to use as a secret love nest. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-resigned.html |
She's no longer in office so why would her private life be any of anyone else's business?
The "secret property portfolio" sure. |

i think it's very relevant given her stance on gender reform.

SNP politician had innocent woman investigated for hate crime over bikini wax mix-up https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=600 nasty A nationalist MSP caused an innocent woman to be investigated for a hate crime after she wrongly claimed opponents of Nicola Sturgeon’s gender self-ID laws had booked her a “malicious” bikini wax. Karen Adam, who represents Banffshire and Buchan Coast for the SNP, complained in December that she had been a victim of abuse and intimidation after she received an unsolicited confirmation for an intimate salon appointment. She publicly blamed critics of self-ID laws for making a booking “focused on my genitals” at the same time that a crunch Holyrood debate on the controversial gender laws was due to take place. However, the Telegraph understands that it took a police probe to find out that the incident was the result of an innocent mix-up at the Edinburgh salon. A woman with a very similar name to Ms Adam had tried to make a genuine appointment and the MSP got the confirmation email, in what police sources confirmed was an “administrative error”. Critics of Ms Adam said her reaction to receiving the email, which she also wrote about at length in a national newspaper column, exposed her “absurd persecution complex” and raised doubts over whether she was clever enough to be an MSP. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics...e-gender-laws/ |

Humza Yousaf faces Unionist ‘pincer movement’ at election time
Conservative strategists plan to hand Labour a free run at reclaiming its former urban strongholds while they target rural constituencies https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/...eg?imwidth=500 Humza Yousaf faces a Unionist pincer movement at the next general election, under Scottish Tory plans to relentlessly target rural voters while handing Labour a free run at reclaiming its former urban strongholds. “We think it’s wrong to say that only Labour will benefit from the turmoil in the SNP,” a Tory source said. “We’re going to hammer the point that we are the only party that understands rural Scotland and will defend it. “Seats changing hands between the SNP and Labour in the central belt doesn’t really concern as, as neither will back a Tory prime minister. “We’re not going to bust a gut in places we have no chance. Our resources will be targeted at seats we know we can win.” A series of Scottish Government policies backed by the Greens, such as new marine protection areas which will effectively ban fishing, are set to be relentlessly attacked by the Tories. Rachael Hamilton, rural affairs spokesman for the Scottish Tories, said: “The fact that the rural affairs brief was used as a political ploy to force Kate Forbes to the backbenches tells you all that you need to know about Humza Yousaf’s interest in rural Scotland. Encourage unionists to vote Labour There were reports on Monday that the Tories would encourage Unionist voters to back Labour in some constituencies in a bid to “end nationalist dominance”. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics...eral-election/ |

it's no small incident ......
There is currently police activity at the couple's home in Glasgow and at SNP headquarters in Edinburgh. There are 10 uniformed officers stationed outside the former first minister's home, alongside one police vehicle and an incident tent in the front garden. The curtains and blinds remained drawn and there was no sign of anyone in the property. Meanwhile, two police officers were posted outside SNP HQ and there were other officers inside. At least six marked police vehicles were parked outside the building. An SNP spokesperson said: "Clearly it would not be appropriate to comment on any live police investigation but the SNP have been cooperating fully with this investigation and will continue to do so. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-65187823 |
