Prince Harry, Meghan and her mother were involved in a "near catastrophic car chase" involving paparazzi, a spokesperson for the prince has said.

The incident happened after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended an awards ceremony in New York on Tuesday.

In a statement, the prince's spokesperson said the "relentless pursuit" lasted for over two hours.

They added it resulted in near collisions with other drivers on the road, pedestrians and police officers.

"While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone's safety," the spokesperson said.

"Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all in involved."

The New York Police Department (NYPD) did not immediately confirm knowledge of the incident.

The incident is said to have happened after the couple's first public appearance together since the King's Coronation earlier this month.

Accompanied by Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, they attended the Ms Foundation Women of Vision's 50th anniversary gala event.

This story is such bread and butter for either side of Harry and Megan lol

For their supporters it shows what they have to put up with on a daily basis and that a lot of their concerns are very legitimate

For people who don't like them this comes across as a pretty hysterical account full of exaggeration given the police seem to have no idea about it

This would not happen in the UK because the Royals have deals with the paps

I don't condone paparazzi harassment and stalking. But everyone else seems to be contradicting H& M 's recollection of events :suspect: , except for their spokesperson . I'm wondering if it's an exaggerated story?. And of course Princess Diana's death & car crash gets brought up again.

Even the taxi they jumped in ,the taxi driver said he didn't feel chased .....So that's interesting.

They came out of the fake blow smoke up Megan's ass for marketing and PR purposes "awards" and got into a security car, it then drove to a police station where they got out and got into a taxi. The taxi drove around for 20 mins and they went back to the station.

TMZ have released the Taxi dashcam and it contradicts what the awful couple's "spokesperson" has said :joker:

they were obviously trying to make it sound like Diana being chased

Diana die from not wearing a seatbelt and getting into car with a drunk driver

I watch with baited breath to see how this story unfolds….but it’s being steered down the path of what happened to Diana…the narrative they are transfixed with..

Y'know, I have to wonder why the paps cared so much about getting a photo of them?

And also, why were they so desperate to not be photographed?
