Trans rights group loses case to have LGB alliance stripped of charity status
 
The absolute nerve of them to even have brought this case against them in the first place!

A TRANSGENDER rights organisation has lost its case to have the controversial LGB alliance stripped of its charitable status - in what is thought to be the first case of its kind in the UK.

The group, Mermaids, launched the appeal in June 2021 arguing that LGB alliance "shouldn't be recognised as a charity because it was focused on hostile anti-trans activism and not (as it claimed) on the promotion of lesbian, gay and bisexual rights".

The case was heard from September to November 2022 and the tribunal's decision was given today.



LGB alliance celebrated their victory in the case on Twitter, saying: "We are delighted that the tribunal found in our favour and that Mermaids and the LGBT Consortium have failed in their bid to remove our charitable status."

Mermaids have released a statement on their website following the ruling today.

The group argued the outcome of the case still puts a "huge question mark" over the charity's status as judges were "split" on the decision - one arguing in favour of Mermaids and one against.

I believe their actions and their words, their only goal is to harm and strip away the rights of trans people, like I said, the vast majority of the ‘members’ are straight people, the organisation has got nothing to do with gay rights

The court beg to differ Liam. I see a massive split in the LGBT community lately since the more traditional groups like Stonewall have decided to change what homosexuality even is. Same sex attraction is suddenly transphobic. There's an absolute need for new charities who still believe in that surely whether you believe it or not?

A ‘massive split’? You see what you want to see, you see the people that agree with you and that leads you to vastly overestimate the amount of support the anti-trans movement has, especially in the lgbt community

There isn’t a need for an organisation that purposefully targets trans people no, because trans people aren’t destroying anything, the bigots who don’t like trans people are trying to create the divide so they can get their own way

I mean when Stonewall have promoted the workshop Overcoming the Cotton Ceiling, that in itself is enough reason for lesbians to want to break away and start their own group that focuses on actual lesbians surely? What makes you think that the LGB Alliance is mostly straight people btw? I know one of the founders is Allison Bailey, the Lesbian who won her own case against her employers for discrimination because of her belief in biology. Is she a bigot for only being attracted to people of her own sex?

One could argue that a very large portion of the LGBTQI ++++++ groups are straight too

People have repeatedly asked you to justify this or provide any sort of example of it and you haven't been able to. At some point you're going to have to accept that you're just a resonance chamber for other people's opinions. You can't back them for yourself because you didn't reason them out for yourself. All I can say is, one day, at least try. You might come to the same conclusion but at least you'll be able to back it when asked.

Exactly. I gave him a pretty solid example of why lesbians might feel the need to regroup and start their own charities and he just called it propaganda so he either doesn't know what the Cotton ceiling is or he doesn't actually care how the "L's" are being treated and thinks they should just shut up :shrug:

I’ve learned my lesson to not get involved in discussions with people who have no real outputs other than ‘trans people bad’ now I just post my opinions and leave it at that

Lesbians explained that they did not want to have sexual relationships with people with penises, the term penis was rebranded “girldick”, “lady stick”, “lady’s penis”.

In this “logic”, the penis, in virtue of being attached to a male who identifies as female, automatically becomes a female organ. Lesbians who still refuse to consider “trans lesbians” as sexual partners are called “terfs”, “transphobes” and “vagina fetishists”.

So men who ID as lesbians are real lesbians and lesbians who are females are not real lesbians unless they have sex with men who ID as lesbians.

You're not posting opinions though your making claims of facts. You can indeed do the former without backing it up, but you can't do the latter without some sort of reasoning. It doesn't even have to be evidence, though that would be ideal... Just reasoning would be something.

The way things stand you're just saying "They are THIS. they think THIS. tmThey do THIS for THIS reason!" and when pressed as to why you think that, you clam right up.

The only assumption anyone can make is, you don't have an answer for why you think that. Which means it's probably just that you heard someone else say it, and you generally align with that person so you repeat it.

Can we not just address the elephant in the room which is that the actual reason most lesbians aren't interested in trans lesbians is not because they "secretly have a penis in their pants"... it's because, penis or not, they simply don't look like females. In any sense. People who are attracted to females, are not going to be attracted to 99.9% of trans women.

I feel like saying "Sorry I'm just not interested in having sex with someone who has a penis" is the KIND answer... it's saying "yes you pass as a female but penis isn't for me, sorry"... rather than saying "It's also the fact that you have a man's entire body structure and facial features".
