Schools/Hospitals : 'Risk of Collapsing Concrete' Now Closing those buildings

[Dozens of schools which
'could be at risk of collapsing'
are 'told to be ready to shut down
at short notice until they can be made safe'
Hundreds of schools were built with
reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete]

[Dozens of schools that could be at risk
of collapsing have reportedly been told they
could be forced to shut down at short
notice if they are not made safe.
Hundreds of schools across the country
were built with reinforced autoclaved aerated
concrete, known as RAAC, between
the 1960s and 1990s, with the buildings
having a life span of around 30 years.

The risk of the 'crumbly' concrete, that
has previously been likened to a
'chocolate Aero bar', has been known
for five years now, after a
primary school in Kent partially collapsed
but now chaos could be caused for
thousands of more youngsters]

Yes, many Schools could stay Closed
next week.

[Education Secretary Gillian Keegan told reporters
that 156 schools had been identified as containing RAAC.]

At least No Children Died.

It is the Wrong time to close schools - just as they return.
But it appears some roofs could crash down on children.

Some Schools without this Dangerous (cheaper) Air filled Concrete
will be open as usual.

It's some kids Birthdays and Christmas rolled into one.

Seriously though I agree with you, it sounds like a shambles.

Sky had a ‘concrete specialist’ on earlier and he was demonstrating that it was the actual concrete at fault … he was digging into the questionable stuff with a special tool .. it looked like he was digging into the plaster they put on walls rather than rock hard concrete

BBC New Text :
[Sunday Times also focuses on the concrete issue,
tying it to its own campaign for the
phased removal of asbestos from
schools and hospitals.
It reports "scores of public buildings caught
up in the crumbing concrete crisis are also
likely to be riddled with deadly asbestos".]

Obese patients are being treated on the ground floor of a hospital because of fears that floors above them made of crumbling concrete could collapse.

Shouldn't laugh, but :joker:

Imagine how that conversation must go!
"Sorry sir, but if you go above the ground floor, there's a very real chance you could crash through the ceiling. "
