PM Sunak Weakening Key Green Policies : Live 4:30PM 20/9/23
[Rishi Sunak is considering weakening
some of the government's key green commitments in a major policy shift. It could include delaying a ban on the sales of new petrol and diesel cars and phasing out gas boilers, multiple sources have told the BBC. The PM is preparing to set out the changes in a speech in the coming days. There is no suggestion that Mr Sunak is considering abandoning the legal commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. But he is expected to declare that other countries need to bear more of the burden of dealing with climate change. If Mr Sunak presses ahead with the plan it would represent a significant shift in the Conservative Party's approach to net zero policy, as well as establishing a clear dividing line with the Labour Party.] https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66857551 Green Party is angry |
:clap1:
get this utter madness in the BIN |
Not surprised in the least.
Not that the current plans were particularly green anyway. |
First thing tories do when they're hurt, is look for a way to screw over future generations.

Not unexpected from Fishy Sunak but it's wrong in my view.
|
i think its the right move. Getting rid of gas boilers is hugely expensive and electric cars aren't fit for purpose yet
|
While Drax's method of tree-powered stations is held above cleaner and greener methods like nuclear, no-one has the right to call themselves or their methods green.

it just seems like common sense to me

Some if it I can see the sense of.
Just sick of his deceitful selective number crunching he does. If I was Starmer, and thankfully I'm not. I'd criticise the change of stance, however would in principle half-heartedly accept some of these changes, with the view of reviewing once and should he win the election. I'm not bothered on the climate policy issues.. This PM and his hard-line heartless Ministers, should be out for alone the chaos they've helped create and the chaos they are still sustaining across the NHS. |
If we get Rwanda sorted this could be better times for Rishi
|
Labour don't have a problem. This has been done for tory newspapers and a galahad base. Most of the public are aware of the climate emergency and it's consequences (between 70-80%).
it's another tory created problem, which I'd say would backfire, but the party is in such a state they've already bled out. |
