ByElection.
https://news.sky.com/story/sir-tony-...ed-73-13046240 [The MP for Rochdale, who served as a politician across Greater Manchester for over 40 years, had been receiving treatment for blood cancer. But in January, he said it had turned into an aggressive and untreatable form of leukaemia, and he was leaving the hospital to "spend the time I have left with my family". Despite his illness, Sir Tony ended his message by reassuring his constituents his office would remain open to ensure they were still supported.] |

[Vice-Chairman Craig Tracey said: 'The fact that Sir Keir's candidate for Rochdale is spreading these bizarre and offensive anti-Israel conspiracy theories shows that for all his bluster, he's failed to change his party. 'These are the ramblings of an internet crank, not someone who aspires to be a Member of Parliament.' Last night Mr Ali issued a statement to The Mail on Sunday, saying: 'I apologise unreservedly to the Jewish community for my comments which were deeply offensive, ignorant, and false. Hamas's horrific terror attack was the responsibility of Hamas alone, and they are still holding hostages who must be released. October 7 was the greatest loss of Jewish life in a single day since the Holocaust, and Jews in the UK and across the world are living in fear of rising anti-Semitism. I will urgently apologise to Jewish leaders for my inexcusable comments. 'The Labour Party has changed unrecognizable under Keir Starmer's leadership – he has my full support in delivering the change Britain needs.' Mr Ali made his initial remarks at a meeting of the Lancashire Labour Party soon after the attacks, making the astonishing claim that the Israeli government had removed its border security to give the Hamas terrorists free rein.] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...vade-Gaza.html |

Yes, Many are saying that. |
My goodness
A tightened up procedure to select candidates and then they pick this dubious at best one. What a mess. Rochdale deserves better, Labour have taken the voters of Rochdale for granted for way too long |

Yes, no one wants Ali now |
Labour says it has “withdrawn support” for Rochdale by-election candidate Azhar Ali following his comments about Israel.
The BBC understands Mr Ali has been suspended from the Labour Party pending an investigation. Labour said the decision was taken after "new information about further comments" made by Mr Ali came to light. It is too late for Labour to replace Mr Ali as its candidate, the party said. Mr Ali is alleged to have told a Labour party meeting that Israel had "allowed" the deadly attack by Hamas gunmen on 7 October. Labour has faced intense pressure since the remarks surfaced, which have been condemned by both party members and political rivals. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68280098 |
[It is too late for Labour to replace
Mr Ali as its candidate, the party said.] Amazing. |
i don't know if this means he cant stand or if he still can as an independent
he stands but as an independent if elected |
|
Good that he has been swiftly suspended from the Party.
Hope he still doesn't win in Rochdale, let it go Lib Dem until the general election. |

Labour are Pathetic on this Ali
Release the New Recording of him It is Far worse, so let's bloody have it. Also The Media should give George Gallaway an interview Why not he is the Workers party. BBC spent a whole day there on Monday & completely ignored him. Something that is wrong |
Quote:
Yes they should make the full recording known Far from being pathetic, action has been rightly taken within 2 days . How many days and weeks did the Cons try to protect and save dubious financial issue MPs, also even sexual predators before getting rid? Hypocritical Sunak trying to make a meal of this one. How this Ali man was EVER selected to be Labour's candidate in Rochdale is the real disgrace. Hopefully he loses in Rochdale. Why hear from Galloway, have the long suffering voters not suffered enough politically from having extreme politicians pushed into their living rooms Galloway likely holds far worse views than this Ali, as to Israel There's many other candidates in Rochdale were not hearing from, never mind Galloway. |
They have been trying to cover up the goings on in Rochdale for decades, and obviously still are, so I wouldn't hold my breath expecting any clarity from any political party. The whole thing stinks
|
"Why hear from Galloway"
He has a lot to say. Some time ago on another election he was on a Bus with GBnewsHD Live You can learn a lot from him. The BBC should interview him not ban him. If it goes wrong Cut the Interview |
Live Debate on Radio 5
on this Crisis with Ali. |
Labour Lord Mann
speaking on SkyNewsHD wants Starmer to say the truth. He is the one man talking sense Starmer is to speak on this Ali fella later today |
Exactly the same comments made by Azhar Ali have been made on this forum.

Well you're not wrong there. Galloway always has a lot to say. Unfortunately. |
Sir Keir Starmer has insisted he took "decisive action" over comments made by Rochdale by-election candidate Azhar Ali about Israel and Jewish people.
Labour has been criticised for initially standing by Mr Ali after it emerged he claimed Israel had "allowed" the 7 October attacks by Hamas. On Monday the party said it was withdrawing support for him after further remarks came to light. The Labour leader said this was a "tough" but "necessary" decision. Speaking on a visit to Wellingborough, Sir Keir said: "Further information came to light yesterday calling for decisive action, so I took decisive action. "It is a huge thing to withdraw support for a Labour candidate during the course of a by-election." He added: "But when I say the Labour Party has changed under my leadership I mean it." ---------------------------------------- Only after a public outcry, and they still haven't said what the candidate said to get the immediate action |
"Only after a public outcry, and they still haven't said
what the candidate said to get the immediate action" Yes, he also was asked who do they vote for now Ali is not a Labour man etc. He said look at the candidates? What does that mean? I would Laugh if George Galloway Won this Bi-Election. |
Well it's always, immaterial of party only after an issue is made of things that action gets taken.
I consider within 48 hours pretty quick and decisive action. I'm furious as a member of Labour that this candidate was ever selected. Until anything comes to light, it's unlikely any action would be taken against anyone of any political Oart by the hierarchy of ALL political Parties . I say again, at least many days, or even a week or weeks didn't pass like the way the Cons tried to protect and ride through, those with dubious financial dealings, bullying, breaking the ministerial code and even sexual predators. What a mess for the MP Tony Lloyds seat after his death though . Just ensure all candidates are now vetted and looked into before they become official candidates . Labour had that waste of space too in Sheffield Hallam. You have to learn from previous awful selection of a candidate. |
it's obviously not just a problem with labour. Candidates across the board are dire and there seems to be zero vetting
|
Sod the Sad BBC
Ch4HDnews gave George Galloway a Brief Interview Then they reported in the Labour Sewer of Hate. They also spoke to Former Labour MP now Reform Party Simon Danczuk Election this Thursday 29 Feb |
Letter to the DT
SIR – The reason Azhar Ali felt able to suggest at a Labour Party meeting that
Israel was complicit in the October 7 pogrom was that he knew he had a receptive audience for these anti-Semitic slurs. The fact that no one present appears to have challenged him is deeply troubling. If Sir Keir Starmer is serious about confronting anti-Semitism within Labour, he should immediately suspend all party officials who were present, and thoroughly investigate that branch. If anti-Semitic attitudes are found to be rife, only mass expulsions will convince the country that Sir Keir is fit to be prime minister. Jeremy Crick Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire |
Another problem is the accusations of anti-Semitism where it's not really anti-Semitism.
Or should be deemed as so. It can be offensive and can be wrong to say some things and require rightful criticism and actions taken However, I have no time or liking for PM Netanyahu of Israel. I see him more as a danger to any kind of peaceful possibilities in the Middle East. I think he's failing most Israeli citizens. So I now equally cannot support his policies in this war against Hamas. By the way he is executing it. Way too many even children and babies have been slaughtered in this action by his orders of his government in Israel. That view of mine is NOT in any way anti-Semitic. No way, although there's some on here would likely fire that at me As anti-Semitism is being used as to any criticism of.those in power in Israel too Which is nonsense, sorry but it is. I'm a firm believer in a Palestinian state being secured Plus a firm believer and supporter of Israel to exist securely and in peace in the area too. It's depressing there are terrorist organisations across the Middle East, which not only thteaten stability in the Middle East but in the wider World too. Israel has had since it's creation, hostility from other Nations in the area. That is shocking. They have to be certain of their own security. Despite having to fight many from all sides. However it is not anti-Semitic to support the Palestinians too They too should have the right to a secure independent Country too. Really though, I said to my family once Netanyahu was back as PM in Israel. I said watch now for more major conflict because I believe myself, rightly or wrongly he thrives on it. He is now moving more and more away from the allies he has, namely the USA. He is someone I could never trust at all. The Israelis and Israel warrant far better than him as their leader. However too, the Palestinians do need to help expose those of Hamas and help rid Palestine of Hamas. I'm not anti Palestinian saying that. I'm also not anti-Semitic criticising Netanyahu and his government's actions too. |
it's certainly not antsemitic to question and denounce the loss of innocent life. It is antisemitic to speak violently against an entirety of people. The west is very careful to only call out Hamas for their actions, they should extend the same courtesy to the jewish people
|
|
Why would that be considered by you for me arista ?
A phrase I consider offensive being depicted as being shouted out by a man I find to be mostly grossly offensive. Frankly I'm not impressed one bit that you've connected my name to that awful caption. |
