Vote Day Thursday 2/5/24 Are you voting?

I have never voted and never EVER will. ..

Politics is full of completely corrupt and totally inept individuals - in the uk and everywhere else in the world

I can remember back to the days of Harold Wilson so we have had countless changes in government / parties … guess what … for the vast majority ( everyone in here for example) it doesn’t make a jot of difference to us who is in charge ..

Labour retains control of South Tyneside and Newcastle-upon-Tyne

[Labour retained control of South Tyneside,
but lost at least seven seats to independents.

The party needed to win four seats of
the 14 seats it held going into polling day,
and while it achieved that,
its majority will be reduced.]

So now that council for four years will just have a load of people who mainly care about hating on Israel

Good for local people and services

Starmer now Live in Blackpool
with his deputy.

Of Course a big swing

But The Conservative MP was corrupt
It was Labour expected to win.

Shame No one Shouts out OLDHAM

arista 03-05-2024 07:49 AM

Press now talking to Starmer

Mention OLDHAM will you
so far no one has

joeysteele 03-05-2024 08:45 AM

Oldham was expected.

There's other areas too like Burnley where Labour will be hit by the fury from former Councillors livid at the Party's failure to address the Israel/Palestine issue to their satisfaction.

That issue if Starmer doesn't get things smoothed over will remain a problem for him.
Even in a few seats in the general election.

joeysteele 03-05-2024 08:47 AM

Good grief.
The new Labour MP Chris Webb in Blackpool South.
Was more like reading a book than making a victory speech.

I'm pleased to see someone else is like myself who sometimes go on and on and on.

Former Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson was turned away from his local polling station after forgetting to bring acceptable photo ID.

As first reported by Sky News, he returned later with the necessary ID and was able to vote.

He cast his ballot in South Oxfordshire, where voters are choosing a police and crime commissioner.

New rules requiring photo ID to vote were introduced by Mr Johnson's government in the Elections Act 2022.

The change was rolled out last year, with local elections in May 2023 the first time voters needed to show ID.

According to the Electoral Commission, about 14,000 people were unable to vote in last year's local elections in England as a result of the new rules.

I think I said earlier somewhere maybe on here.
Perhaps he wasn't sure of the rules or that they didn't apply to him.

Labour will still run Oldham though.
It will just need support from a few others elected to the council.

It's still easily the largest party.

Exactly, they'll get support from some others.

Labour is still the massively dominant party there.
