How do you really feel about Sundays?

As it says in t’title. And if you do know what to do with yourself beyond church activities and then dreading Monday in boredom, do let us know what.

Niamh. 01-06-2024 02:29 PM

No church activities, it's a day off which makes it a good day

Ammi 01-06-2024 02:32 PM

…anything beginning in ‘Sun…’ in the title and I read it as Sunak…’How do you really feel about Sunak…’….

…*puts rant away safely back in the back…next time, maybe…*

Redway 01-06-2024 02:33 PM

Accidentally voted for the third option as well as the fourth. I’m certainly no lover of Sundays all the way through.

It’s also an incredibly boring day minus a few highlights.

Crimson Dynamo 01-06-2024 02:42 PM

Sundays are great

plenty football, spot of gardening

smudgie 01-06-2024 02:44 PM

Love Sundays.
Weekends are family time as kids are off work.

Redway 01-06-2024 03:05 PM

@Kate: you tend to prefer weekdays anyway, don’t you?

Kate! 01-06-2024 03:16 PM

@Redway yes I do, weekend nights are boring and Sundays is all day long tbh.

If you want to tag me you need to put Kate!

No it isn't

Alf 01-06-2024 03:28 PM

Few beers, roast dinner, afternoon nap and then back on the ale.

joeysteele 01-06-2024 03:45 PM

Often my weeks are so hectic that Sunday is the day I settle down and relax
Preparing for that on Saturday and then all the decks cleared for Sunday.

However for the next 5 Sundays it's going to get more crazy with working each one for the election.

Sunday is generally however the day I relax, catch up with family and friends if I want to and do next to nothing.

Crimson Dynamo 01-06-2024 03:50 PM

You should have tried Sundays in the 70s

church all morning

3 TV stations that started at 12 midday, only 2 kids shows on in the afternoon
TV shut down at 10.30pm

All shops shut

no mobile phones, no computers, no consoles

"Everyday is like Sunday
Everyday is silent and grey."

No trainers just black or white plimsoles/pumps , no computer gaming, no internet or Sky Sports or music downloading, no movies online / streamed .. no pausing TV

I work Sundays and I don't mind that at all.
I have tomorrow off and that's very rare.

Sometimes it feels like you might as well work half of Sundays, because it’s not like people tend to have a whole-lot stacked up to do on Sunday anyway. Sometimes it really do be like, ‘what-else you gonna do besides laundry and staring at the ceiling with Songs of Praise on standby?’

Nah….sleep in recovering from Saturday night, up in time to get ready for the afternoon session, home for a big dinner, bit of bedroom aerobics , a good long bath then listening to music.
Chill before the mad week of work and nights out ahead. The only night in to be fair.

Zizu 01-06-2024 06:32 PM

For a period many years ago I worked what we were told was a ‘European’ schedule..

We worked 6 straight days then two days off .. took a little while to get used to it but it was rather nice after that

And what time do the Sunday blues tend to kick in for you?

Around 5pm ish
When I've got to start thinking about getting things ready for Monday morning

Ray. 01-06-2024 08:41 PM

There should have been an option for Sunday always feeling like a stay of execution. Yeah you've got another day of freedom left, but it's an ominous day full of dread for the no-doubt tiresome week ahead.

Redway 01-06-2024 09:02 PM

One thing I actually like about Mondays is the fact that TV comes back to life. Saturday-night TV can be a hit half the year but outside that, Saturday/Sunday TV is usually just a little bit rubbish (outside movie-channels). In the absence of Sunday-night Emmerdale and Corrie outside of Corrie slot-specials, there’s virtually nothing fresh to watch on Sundays.

LaLaLand 02-06-2024 04:53 AM

A day of just taking it easy, doing some chores, (depending on the weather) I clean the car or do a bit of gardening or even just sit outside with a brew in the sunshine, as I did earlier. Then evenings it's a bath and maybe a takeaway watching the telly.

I used to HATE them as a kid - I can still feel that sense of pure dread when I think back to Sunday nights. Hearing the theme music for Last of the Summer Wine, Where The Heart Is or especially Heartbeat meant "get in the bath because it's back to school in the morning - have you done your homework!?" :omgno:

Ammi 02-06-2024 07:37 AM

…atm, I’m loving it…living the life/doing nothing in PJs….

Mystic Mock 02-06-2024 07:48 AM

It depends on what Football matches are on, when it comes to Sunday for me.

Punk rocker nope.
I was a goth before goth existed, then anything you could dance to.:dance:

Livia 02-06-2024 12:07 PM

Sunday is a family day for us. We usually see my parents and we have lunch with them, or they come to us. So I would have chosen option 1, except the bit about the Lord's day, because that's Saturday for me.

Redway 02-06-2024 05:19 PM

Ugh. Not today being another Sunday.

Mystic Mock 05-06-2024 07:41 AM

I've got to say that today has started off a bit dull so far.

I'm sure that it'll pick up, but hopefully not in a tragic way.

I want something optimistic to happen for once.
