Christmas movie watch(es) 2024…

…as our Lady Smudgie has made the Christmas Ad thread, I’m making a thread for any Christmas movie watches/ratings/recommendations etc…that anyone may wish to share as we get into the season…and because I’m just about to watch my first Netflix Christmas movie of this year…Meet Me Next Christmas…

‘Scrooged’ is a must for me.. i usually keep it for Christmas Day though so i need some recommendations to fill the time from now…

Nicky91 09-11-2024 01:50 PM

Noelle (2019)

i saw that one last year, which is also quite lovely

top cast as well of Anna Kendrick, Bill Hader, Julie Hagerty, Shirley MacLaine, Billy Eichner, and also a small role by Michael Gross (who you might recognize Burt Gummer from Tremors films)

a recommendation to you Ammi from me

Ammi 10-11-2024 08:25 AM

…I watched Planes Trains and Automobiles yesterday…it’s such a Christmas classic, I loved it……I’ll give it a 9/10 recommendation…

Niamh. 10-11-2024 08:28 AM

…these were my thoughts when I watched it, that I posted in the just watched thread…:fan:…

Spoiler:

…..Wolfs……a comedy thriller that didn’t really offer any thrilling bits or hit those smiles because it was all a bit too predictable and offered nothing new and just really chugged along ….Austin Abrams though was very endearing in his character, he’s not someone that I was that familiar with so it was an introduction to him……5/10…

How strange, i watched that late Friday night after L&L. And yes, seen it loads, brilliant film. John Candy is excellent in it.

LaLaLand 11-11-2024 07:43 PM

I always watch both “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” every Christmas, usually Christmas Eve night once I’ve done all of my wrapping and can just chill with a hot drink and some snacks before bed and the mania that is Christmas/Boxing Day.

Always watch them and always end up bawling my eyes out at the end of both! :joker:

It’s such a great film, I wish they hadn’t basically given away the whole plot with the trailer when it first released but I still loved it.

Oliver_W 13-11-2024 06:04 PM

It has Mr Freeze from the best Batman movie, and Anakin from the best Star Wars movie.

Jingle All The Way
10/10

Really?

I'd say it's a thanksgiving movie.

But yes, it's a great movie

…I don’t think that I was aware of the movie when it first came out so I didn’t realise the trailer had done that and given the plot away…/…that’s so bad…the first time I watched it…it’s such a lovely cast and although it’s very bittersweet, it’s so uplifting as well…I love it……

Ammi 17-11-2024 03:33 PM

…I watched Hot Frosty on Netflix ….it was the perfect Hallmark Christmas movie formula…a lovely/Christmassy small town in the US where everyone knows your name …lots of snow and sparkling fairy lights…an incredibly beautiful lead and a magical snowman…I didn’t want to love it but I did……maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10 and Lacey Chabert is obviously adorable…
