Santino Pietrosanti previously boasted about his push for diversity at Jaguar

I was reminded of a pretentious Dunlop tyres advert in the 90s that won lots of advertising awards.

Only problem was that it did nothing to help sales.



Watching it back, they did actually show the product though.

Nah other than Facebook, Google and Microsoft (and the latter two of those mainly because the logos were classics) ... all of the new logos in this image are better than the old ones, which are simply dated, nothing to do with "wokeness".

That is Jaguar aside though. Their new font doesn't fit a car brand at all. As for the advert, it's ... a miss. Misjudged. We'll say that.

I don't think there's any harm in them going for a new market - as much as the believers who are convinced Trump is going to live forever believe that they as puffy faced blokes with beer bellies are going to be the world's core spending power forever ... they are not, and if Jaguar don't find a core market outside of recently-divorced men in middle management, they're going to go bust.

That said...

I'm sure there was some other ad a few years back that everyone absolutely loved - but no one could remember what it was an ad for.

…that’s the thing, though…who can recall ads now…we spend so much time watching catch up so that we don’t have to watch those ads and then there are screams that they’re not good ad…it feels like any televised ad for any company is not a good use of advertising budget…

It's hilarious how we have gotten to a point where the word "woke" is so overused it has literally become meaningless and if anything it has just became a dog whistle for the Karen's and Keith's to express their frustration every time something doesn't resemble 1930's Germany.

Oh calm down. I don't know why some people have chosen to see this discussion as racist. Who mentioned black people? It's a car ad with no car in it. They've changed to logo from a jaguar to kindergarten letters. It's stupid.

Or you just realised that you can't answer the question without sounding like a racist so you thought it would be a better idea to scramble and deflect in any way you could.
