Amazon will take creative control of the James Bond franchise

[Amazon will take creative control of
the James Bond franchise under a new

The deal comes after Amazon bought
MGM Studios in 2022 as a part of its

Oh dear God, don't give them ideas

Ray. 20-02-2025 03:48 PM

Yet another staple of British iconography to be blandly corporatised and ruined.

bots 20-02-2025 06:03 PM

i'm not invested enough in the franchise to be that bothered. If they produce good movies, i will watch them, if they don't, i won't

GoldHeart 20-02-2025 09:56 PM

Can someone explain to me where they're going with the franchise, considering they've ' killed off bond himself '. You can't have bond without bond , sure a different actor will play him...but why did they kill him off in the last movie? :conf:  .

Is it all going to turn out to be a dream ? ,and bond is alive and safe and well. Whilst he goes on his next MI5 mission or whatever. Or did he pull a Sherlock move and fake his own death?.

UserSince2005 20-02-2025 10:20 PM

So there will be three new films a year?

And two or three spin-offs.

And a web series of shorts where Moneypenny and Q hang out in the break room and spill the tea about each other's unsatisfying sex lives. Moneypenny bitching about her sub boyfriend who likes to act a sissy and get pegged, etc. You know the deal.

Mystic Mock 21-02-2025 01:57 AM

The new star of James Bond will be.

We all know what modern Hollywood is like.

bots 21-02-2025 07:56 AM

Amazon has produced some of the best stuff that is currently available and really, james bond isn't known for its complex plot lines and deep character acting

DrunkerThanMoses 21-02-2025 08:03 AM

I look forward to the spin off show they make where they show bond going through training to become a agent

Oliver_W 21-02-2025 08:48 AM

Live and let DEI

So long as though do not
use a female as 007
all should go well.

Wouldn't watch it. Pah.

Yes, it is written as a Male Agent.

user104658 24-02-2025 10:51 AM

The quality of Amazon content is... mixed. Some of it is excellent, to be fair.

I'd say the same about Bond films (inconsistent - I enjoy some and find others insufferably boring) so maybe it's a good match.

Oliver_W 24-02-2025 06:23 PM

I try to take a "nothing is sacred" approach when it comes to adaptations. Make it easier.

people are acting like james bond (a fictitious character) is an important part of their lives.

Every single james bond film that had roger moore was a pile of horse dung

Was the best.

Not Octopussy!?:bawling:

It has such a great title.

Livia 26-02-2025 11:32 AM

I like all the Bonds and all the films except the last one. No Time To Die showed Bond as jaded and in the opening scene that's supposed to pull you in to the story, he was arguing with his girlfriend. He seemed tired. I want Bond to be the cold, womanising, hard drinking killer he's supposed to be not some whiney bore in touch with his feminine side.

I'm not going to go through them one by one but, loosely, I can appreciate the Connery era for what they are (movie history), Moore is hit and miss though honestly I find them more boring than not (maybe I just find him boring  ) ... I enjoy the Brosnan era because it's all a bit over the top and cheesy but that's fun... obviously Goldeneye is peak. Might just be because of my age at the time and nostalgia I suppose. Casino Royale is a great film, Quantum of Solace LITERALLY put me to sleep, Skyfall was decent and I've not seen the most recent two.

All of that said - I've not seen any of the old ones for 15+ years and having recently rewatched a few older films that I wouldn't particularly have rated when I saw them as a kid/teen/20's, and found that I thought they were brilliant, so who knows. Maybe my opinion would be different these days.

For example; watched The Sound of Music with eldest recently, which my sister loved as a kid and I despised... discovered that it's actually a great piece of cinema. Shocked to my core with that one.

Little Shop of Horrors also (the 80's one) - I remember I vaguely liked it as a "silly weird film" when I was a kid, watched it recently, fkn loved it. Maybe I'll have to force myself to sit through a Roger Moore bond film.

Nicky91 01-03-2025 01:40 PM

couple of actors who'd make proper bond villains i think

- Rafe Spall
- Skeet Ulrich (i mean it would be nice seeing him playing a baddie again, a first since Billy Loomis in the scream franchise, also think he could pull off a similar psychotic villain like Carlyle's Renard)

and considering S.E.A.L Team has ended, how about David Boreanaz for the role of some CIA operative?

Henry Czerny would also be a good shout as he already has some experience with spy films like in Mission Impossible, and he played a bad guy before in Supergirl (The Toymaker)

arista 26-06-2025 07:30 AM

Denis Villeneuve

He Directed the 2nd Blade Runner
and Dune films

Has been announced
as the New 007 Director.

Of course, the New James Bond
is still to come.

I hope that Pedro Pascal and Zandaya get cast as James Bond and Bond Girl.

I haven't seen them in awhile.:hehe:

Nicky91 03-07-2025 07:50 AM

Pedro Pascal wouldn't be a great James Bond actor though

although i could see him in another role  maybe in a similar role to Felix Leiter, but then a original character

out of these actors shortlisted for Bond, Tom Holland is the one with most experience i think, but Jacob Elordi would be a nice risk worth to take i think, considering his success with Saltburn

i'd say keep Ralph Fiennes as M, he did do a good job at that role so why not, i mean Judi Dench also had this role with two different bond actors (Brosnan, Craig)

and as the baddie, i kinda would love for Willem Dafoe to make his live action 007 debut, maybe also with a live action version of his video game character he voiced, we kinda need a bad guy as powerful as the likes of Robert Carlyle, Javier Bardem pulled off stellar performances, especially coming of the back of that iconic bad guy masterpiece that was Rami Malek's character

maybe also another female villain, i mean we have had fewer of those, Skyler Samuels  i mean she did a decent job as a supporting villain in The Meg 2

Pascal is not British, too old and way too stupid to play Bond

don't be ridiculous

Nicky91 03-07-2025 07:56 AM

and i think Amazon also needs to look at the actors who portrayed villains on Strike Back, oh and also one of the last main cast, Jamie Bamber i could see as a nice addition for another Mi-6 character

there are quite some among those who have Bond bad guy potential

Nicky91 03-07-2025 08:04 AM

Javier Bardem as another baddie, i mean he could play Silva's twin brother

and with his natural dark hair this could work obviously, considering he had dyed his hair blonde for the role of Silva in Skyfall ;)

i even know a storyline
Quote:

wanting to avenge his twin brother Raoel Silva's death, Lisandro Silva has created a terrorist group to attack british embassy's where top Mi-6 operatives are stationed

+ Skyler Samuels as one of his lieutenants of that terrorist group

and having a role for Willem Dafoe with a shady mysterious role, similarly mysterious as Blofeld, but someone different, whom is also behind funding that terrorist group, and revealed to be the mastermind boss of the Silva's, and of course a role set up for multiple films

i'd be an epic screenwriter/producer myself honestly

Livia 07-07-2025 03:07 PM

Henry Cavill would make a great Bond. Obviously Tom Hardy would make a better Bond but they probably couldn't afford him.
