Trump likes Kier. None of us do... but Trump does. At least someone likes him, I guess.

Cherie 28-02-2025 11:09 AM

I found it funny that Labour's ace in the hole was a invitation from the King  Wonder how well that went down in some quarters, you can't beat a bit of soft power

He comes from the world of contracts and negotiations which - behind the bluster of his nonsense on stage - is the same world Trump comes from. It's not surprising they get along once the cameras are off.

It's also abundantly clear that Starmer and Farage get along amiably on a personal level, whenever a glimpse of them interacting is caught on camera.

Most of them do, let's face it. All elbow-nudges and chuckles as soon as the "game" is paused.

Livia 28-02-2025 12:18 PM

I don't know why you bother explaining stuff when I've no interest in reading it.

This is a pretty accurate assessment of things..
It makes sense.
I do believe Farage has much more liking for Starmer than say Badenoch or Sunak before her.

You're also correct there's a lot more getting on with each between all Parties.
A fair bit of the time anyhow.

joeysteele 28-02-2025 03:25 PM

For me, it now even just further saddens me to see not only parliament but now the Royals too.
All rushing to suck up to Trump.
Just what exactly has Trump done to warrant another State visit to the UK?

All this going ga ga for him now is to me nauseating, plus just probably fuelling and more enabling his power crazy egomania.

I too worry just what so called PEACE deal he can bring into being.
Any deal that would see ANY of the land of UKRAINE left under Russian control would be at least a partial victory for Putin's Russia.
Crimea is different, it was taken in 2014, when Trump from 2017 onwards couldn't get it back to Ukraine.

Plus how does he set out to ensure that in the future, even as close as just under near 4 years on now.
How does he ensure Putin and Russia won't invade again anytime from 2029?
IF he and the USA doesn't provide security as a deterrent to that happening.

I'd love to be proven wrong but at present I still see Trump as more paranoid and untrustworthy.

Trump should be incarcerated.
He is clearly unhinged.
Watching the interview with Zelenskyy, I would be ashamed to be American with that idiot in charge.:fist:

No, it will go ahead.

Ukraine is not the UK

bots 28-02-2025 05:54 PM

that interview was a setup to try and humiliate Zelenski

Whoever questioned what he was wearing should be sacked….and the bloke who said he hasn’t said ‘thank you TONIGHT’…should be fired too.

….and maybe there is something in the drawn up Treaty that Zelenski wasn’t happy about

You know it’s really really funny you should say that.

Trump was going after the Jan 6 committee that tried to hold him accountable for the terrorists that stormed the capitol. If Biden hadn’t pardoned them they’d probably be in prison right now.

You’re right! That is fascism! Gold star!

Could be the other way around.

No doubt that Charlie has invited Trump around to beg him for mercy on his brother Andrew. And maybe begging for himself.

Knowing that Charlie was best friends with Jimmy Saville, there's probably lots that Trump has on Charlie.

Best friends LOL... You are funny, Alf.

Just to remind you, Andrew has never been arrested let alone charged with anything. Unlike Trump.

Gusto Brunt 01-03-2025 04:17 PM

Calls are being made to not let Trump come now. :p

I repeat.
Why it was ever made in the first place and therefore just feeding his power crazy ego even more then I just think it wrong.

Although it near tears me to pieces to agree with The Mail.

bots 01-03-2025 09:45 PM

it's the government that decides who comes for a state visit, not the monarchy. Charles is just doing what he is told

Trump is president at the moment that won’t always be the case

You don’t cut of your nose to spite your face

In politics you have to deal with people who you may not like

I don't disagree with you.
Actually in my view right now politics everywhere is in an absolute mess and I don't see any improvement in the near future.

I've never been more disillusioned with politics.

I still however don't see why he was afforded this invitation.
He's already had a State visit before.

Personally I feel it's not wise to suck up to someone as unhinged as I myself believe Trump to be.
However that's just me.

bots 01-03-2025 10:56 PM

Trump hasn't actually treated the uk badly yet, he is the most powerful leader in the world. We need and want trade with America. That all totalled up warrants a state visit

It’s throwing something in to sweeten the deal
Trump was very respectful to queen Elizabeth so it makes sense to welcome him

The king doesn’t have the power to give trump any more than he already has.

Hopefully Trump will remember Andrew as they were maybe at some of those parties at the same time :hee:
