last night, it was packed.

Dianne Abbott MP was angry she could not
get in.


This is not about young people who are ill.

It is about the massive amount of young people
who Refuse to work.

Educate them better then.

Are striking teachers the best role models for that, @Glenn

why do they strike

Low pay...a bad example to set the young who's pay is dictated by age.

Disabled Charities
They are all saying it is wrong.


But to be fair
PM Starmer has yet to announce this all

Give them better job-opportunities, then.

If you want money you should work for it if you are able. I did all kinds of crappy, thankless jobs when I was young but I earned my own money. I think youngsters now want top pay for minimal input.

If you want people to work they need to have realistic goals to work towards. A large number of people hitting their 20's these days are stretched to the max - they have no hope of saving a deposit today, let alone planning for one in 10 years time when house prices will be even higher. Expecting people who feel hopeless to work hard is never going to work.

In fact it's worse than that; previous generations have felt hopeless... but the current situation is that we've had such a sustained period of people being told not to expect much, that they are comfortable with hopelessness. They're happy to see what the next day brings, and the next, and coast without planning. They won't have kids so they don't have to worry about it all that much. And then govts. will continue getting themselves into a panic about low birth rates and aging populations (whilst the populations that are left refuse to allow any migration to make up the shortfall ... lol).

'tis falling apart at the seams, folks. Not the country - the entire political philosophy behind modern western civilisation. It's broken :shrug:.

The teachers need a raise then

they get half a year off and had 2 years off for the pLandemic

Cause in my day as a 17-19 yr old, if you wanted anything, like a holiday in spain with your mates(that's all we had, no phones etc back then, or monthly subscriptions etc) you worked. Like Livia, I did anything, and had some great times doing the shittest things. All worth it for the drunken escapades I could have had had I not already had children. That's where my money went.

I blame covid, I really do believe its riddled or raddled everyones minds, especially the young up coming workers who would have been early or mid puberty during covid, and now working age.

You cant ignore it is a factor, people no longer want to go into the office even a few days a week is not acceptable, there is ALOT of economic inactivity in the over 50s where covid reset peoples thinking about the 9 to 5, and as for young people they just dont want to work, and as soon as they cite mental health the benefits start flowing..

covid did change the attitudes of many people toward work, young and older alike. With good reason to, some things are more important than work, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't contribute to the country. It's about getting the right balance

In my day, we were allowed to take part time work from 14 and nearly everybody did. We worked everywhere we could doing whatever we could to earn a few quid. Those times seem to have all but gone

Thats the thing though the inactivity is in the 18 to 24 bracket, not sure how many of those have aspirations to buy a house, going on holiday and having a good time, buying clothes but they just dont seem to need any of that, I guess the bank of Mum and Dad is picking up the tab

…of course Kier Starmer has said that ‘young people should not be on benefits’ as he’s about to cut benefits…what else would he say to explain cuts as being the way forward and how many individual cases has he looked into etc…

From what I can gather they are going to cut benefits to the cohort who cannot actively look for work, like kids who need to be tube fed and are paraplegic....while leaving the benefits for those who can actively seek work alone, that make alot of sense

Covid is used as a comfort blanket to the fact that society in this country has had major problems since 2016.

Economically speaking it probably started in 2008.

there are all sorts of reasons for people not working. There isn't a solution that fits all, there never is, and the government knows it. The electorate is being played

…the world is generally quite unsteady atm…although there are no conscription plans right now, it’s something that some countries are considering and these kind of comments from a country leader also keep those seeds planted as well…

All we can do literally, is keep our fingers crossed on conscription. I know the effect being called up for the 2nd world war had on my Dad and it was eye opening. The interesting thing is that he never talked about it until he was old, when he realised how much of his youth had been taken from him and how little peoples sacrifice actually mattered

People are soon to forget those that killed themselves when their benefits got stopped

Stop spending millions on immigrants that have no right to be in the country and take care of your people

immigrants aren't the problem, illegal immigrants are, but every body wants to fudge that very important detail for their own agendas

Nobody should want conscription.

Forcing young people against their will is not a thing that I personally will support.

what bullshit am I being spoon fed, I am relaying what I have read that they are going to target the most vulnerable on benefits, not sure what your point is at all apart from have a contrary opinion

Nobody so far on this thread has said cutting benefits is a good thing? nobody is forgetting anything

The lady I met at a pip interview/ interrogation for my daughter
She had no hand and they wanted in to see if things had changed

She said I s not like my fking hand as grew back

What part of the following makes you think that, maybe read and absorb before you start making wild accusations, you constantly tell me what I am allegedly thinking and I am kinda sick of it

Starmer dodged the question from Ed Davey when asked if Labour would not cut benefits to those who have limited work capability..

I agree sheriff, unfortunately my youngest can't and won't ever have a job, she's not "that sort of disabled", and while I don't think on assessment anyone would reasonably think she could work, but nonetheless there will DEFINITELY be extra red tape and more hoops to jump through which we could do without - especially as she finds any interaction from strangers distressing in the first place.
