Do you guys think Football is too woke now? Based on Maqwell's YouTube video.
What are your opinions about this? To me I don't really see why some people get so angry at seeing an LGBT armband or flag, I think that you can easily ignore them if they bother you. I am probably seen as an anti-Woke person to some people depending on the topic, so I'm not someone that's without any sympathy towards everything that the Anti-Woke crowd argues against. I just personally can't understand or support the anti-LGBT stuff. |
football follows the money. We are kidding ourselves if we think its anything else. Sponsors will change, politics will change and football will follow along
|
woke far left ideology has no place in sport

I agree with it all. Your last line particularly is wholly appropriate in my view |

its political and ideology and has NO place in football |
politics is in sport, it has been upfront and centre for at least 10 years. There is no going back now

It’s only weak fragile men that seem to be triggered by anything related to LGBTQ. This is proven over and over.
Sport itself in the grand scheme of things is completely irrelevant in terms of things that actually matter. It’s a hobby. One that people take way too seriously. |

Take attacks on the LGBT community for instance..Its not really a big problem, is it. |
Ok I’ll say it’s an issue that’s been extremely exaggerated by the far right. The same ones that are triggered by a flag.

Oh! Thank you for all the replies, I guess!.:cheer2: |
So anyway

Football isn’t ‘woke’ at all, the fan base is just made of a large portion of smooth brain morons that hates anything different to them
|
I do agree that Political stuff like this should not be in Sport, I also think the Poppy shouldn't be forced on players either. That's not to say players shouldn't be allowed to use their platforms to talk about whatever cause they want to in their own time but making the players wear arm bands etc with those symbols on while at work or be ridiculed for refusing is wrong, they're there to play football and shouldn't be coerced into wearing something they don't want to for whatever reason.
|
The poppy is worn to remember all the footballers who have died in conflict.
It should always be worn. If you are refusing to do that, then **** off and become a chef or something. |

Rangers have described the display by supporters of an anti-woke banner at their Europa League game against Fenerbahce - and which has led to a disciplinary charge from Uefa - as "shameful" and "embarrassing".
The Scottish Premiership club also hit out at the throwing of objects on to the pitch, and the continued use of pyrotechnics, saying fans who carry out such acts are not welcome at their matches. While thanking most supporters for their recent backing during games against the Turkish side and Celtic, Rangers state, external it is "deeply saddening and frankly embarrassing that the club is now set to face significant sanctions for the actions of a very small minority". The banner displayed at Ibrox during Thursday's aggregate win over Fenerbahce stated: "Keep woke foreign ideologies out - defend Europe." -------- |

Admittedly I did make the thread title a bit clickbaity to get the topic some attention, but I am still hoping for the discussion to be civil on both sides.:fc: But yeah, I like my conflict more on TV rather than on here or irl personally. |
i mean i myself am fed up about the whole anti-turkiye haters against my team Fortuna Sittard, especially on certain forums in my nation, they have quite a xenophobic title for their club thread :idc:
i am happy with our current owner Isitan Gun, well co-owner, since Azerion also have shares here he also doesn't cause controversies with throwing too much money into the club, which the KNVB doesn't like, we are on their radar tbh, so we need to be careful not to turn into a Vitesse 2.0 but thankfully our director of football Americo Branco is quite creative in finding free agents, players with expiring contracts but honestly, haters gonna keep hating, and we are solidly in a 8th place this season, even still very much in with a chance european ticket play offs also the atmosphere from our fans is one of the competitions best i think, even our away fans, never cause too many problems unlike the hooligans from Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV or ADO Den Haag |
btw we even have someone famous among our hardcore fans
top road cyclist Tom Dumoulin, and he is not even from Sittard, but from Maastricht, but he is a hardcore fortuna fan, with scarf and everything  |
