May Elections

For those who are having this Local Election
as many are now in a one-year delay.
Due to Boundary Changes.

We don't have any in our area but if you do are you going to vote?

How well will Labour do given they have attacked

Pensioners
Disabled
Women
Farmers
have I forgotten anyone?

Kate! 20-04-2025 11:10 AM

Ours have been cancelled. The crafty bastards denying us our right to vote. Our MP is CRAP.

bots 20-04-2025 11:11 AM

i expect reform to do really well. The interesting thing will be if the tories manage to get anyone back or if it's still too early for that

Cherie 20-04-2025 11:11 AM

The Poll is private so you wont be attacked for your choice

Yeah I am expecting a huge gain for Reform if only to give Labour a bloody nose....

bots 20-04-2025 11:13 AM

i never vote in local elections, just no point

What was the reason for the cancellation?, the local elections are for Councillers, sadly you are stuck with your MP for another 4 years

Oh yeah Cherie. Sorry I meant councillor.
I don't know the reason?

Kate! 20-04-2025 11:18 AM

The true reason will be that the cowardly labour party don't want to get trounced.

They'll have given some trumped up reason for cancelling our right to vote

No that's not True
Delayed for a year.

Typical of Cherie to not mention the Year Delay

Oliver_W 20-04-2025 11:19 AM

I'm not sure - it won't be based on the national parties, it will be based on
A) who's got the best policies and ideas for local issues
B) who actually knocks on the door - three of the "Big Five" have been lazy sods over the school hols, and just shoved their propaganda through the door without even knocking, why should I give them my vote if they can't be bothered to doorstep me?

That's the same thing. It still denies us our right to vote NOW.

joeysteele 20-04-2025 11:21 AM

There's none where I live.
So I can opt out of this one.

I don't know the reason?

They're restructuring local government authorities in some areas to cut the number of them so it's probably to do with that

MTVN 20-04-2025 11:36 AM

We only have a mayoral election for the West of England

It's quite close but the Greens are the favourites atm  could go to any party though - Arron Banks is the Reform candidate

The Tories did very well in these elections last time they were contested in 2021 so they'll probably struggle this time

You should have

if he wins

He's just been endorsed by Marco Pierre White so it's a strange timeline we're in

I usually read the manifestos and make a decision off that. Same with General Elections. I’ve voted in four general elections and across those have voted for 3 different parties (Lib Dem, Conservatives, Conservatives, Labour) for various reasons.

However it will never be Green or Reform.

Never voted Conservative, have voted Labour Lib Dem and Independent, last time out spoiled my vote as I didn't want to not exercise my right... so glad I did I couldn't back any of the current parties, all shite

A Far better 1st Post.

This Delay of a year
will save Labour

bots 20-04-2025 01:19 PM

it won't save labour. Not all regions vote every time in the local elections. If regions are merging, they just go with which was the bigger region and take it's election cycle. Nothing dodgy about it. Labour will be expected to lose badly in this cycle, so thats nothing new, its how good the other parties perform that is important

Yes I almost spoilt my ballot last time too.

Unfortunately I can’t say I have ever voted for a party a because I thought they’d be good, just that they’d be the least worst. A very sorry state of affairs.

I don't trust any of them, so I won't be voting.

Haven't voted for about 11 years.

We had Reform knock on the door the other day. At first when I looked out the window, I thought they were part of a religious group like Mormons.

There were three attractive young women, dressed smartly and four men in black trousers, white shirts.

I didn't answer the door thinking they were gonna sell me religion, but with the no answer they shoved Reform leaflets through the letterbox, with a list of the condidates in the area.:joker::joker:

I now want Reform to win because Marco Pierre White likes one of their candidates.
