Started the process to move to Australia!

Begun the process today. We’re going to be moving out there at the beginning of next year.

Beso 06-05-2025 03:10 PM

Good luck Glenn, hopefully it's all plain sailing for you both.

Barry. 06-05-2025 03:18 PM

Oh nice one, though I’d hate the creepy crawlers they have. Good luck with the move

They’re not as much of a problem than you think. I was a bit like that before we went in February. See one big spider and a few biggish little ones.

AnnieK 06-05-2025 03:36 PM

Oh good luck Glenn - what part are you moving to?

The Sunshine Coast

I loved living out there!

You starting with a working hol visa? Or a partner visa (he’s got Australian ties, right?).

Cherie 06-05-2025 04:06 PM

Congrats, hope it all works out for you

That’s what we’re sorting. We have a few avenues to get us out there. Been in touch with a couple of places to talk us through some options.

The cheaper option visa wise to start is probably the working holiday. I think you now get two years automatically with that (and don’t have to do 3 months of farm work to get your 2nd year. No picking mangoes for you on 40 degree heat haha).

Yeah theyve relaxed a few rules. I think there was an age limit on the working holiday visa that’s been lifted too. That will probably be our way in tbh

Yeah it used to be you had to start it by age 30 when I did mine. They upped it to 35 I think.

It’s a good way to start without investing too much. To make sure after a year or so it’s for you, then you can commit further and spend money on the other visas.

Think it’s even higher than that now because when we’ve spoke about it before the I was always over the cut off.

Cal. 06-05-2025 05:40 PM

Good luck Glenn hope you have a blast!

Will you be ok with all the weird and dangerous wildlife ?

Most things seem to be venomous or just dangerous

Yeah. We was there in February. It’s mainly the snakes you have to look out for.

joeysteele 06-05-2025 05:55 PM

Good luck Glenn.

I had family head out there to New Zealand but who all then settled in Australia.
They are Doctors.
They love it and have never looked back or even want to come back here either.

I hope everything goes good for you.

It’d be too hot for me and I know I’d worry about snakes and spiders still lol

Yes, me too, I can't cope with creepy crawlies.
It's partly why I refuse all invites to go and visit my family there.:joker:

Plus like yourself I'd be useless in the heat too.

It’s why I preferred living in NZ. The weather was grand and the scenery is stunning.

You’ll be more than welcome. Have a little walk on the beach, go kangaroo spotting.
Already planning the leaving party lol

Vicky. 07-05-2025 08:18 AM

…I do……and spookily, I was searching through my streaming sites yesterday evening to find a series to watch and on NOWTV…(…I think it was that site…)…the Mentalist came up and I’m tempted to finally watch the complete…I’m just worried it’ll seem a bit dated now and maybe not hold interest ….
