I've put on so much weight...

...and I can't stop comfort eating.

Should I still go on holiday and be a literal whale on the beach or postpone and go when I feel better about myself?

Cherie 30-08-2025 06:27 PM

Go, people on holiday are all shapes and sizes and maybe use the time you have left before you go to go on a health kick, even if you cant stop eating increase your activity so you are burning it off

thesheriff443 30-08-2025 06:34 PM

Go on a holiday to a deserted island with no food for a month and you will come back looking great

Go on holiday and eat the holiday food if you delay the holiday you might get even bigger

I know exactly where you're coming from with the comfort eating, i've been doing mine late at night pretty much for the past 3 months. It all started when my Granddad (who brought me up and was basically my dad) only had a few months left to live. He passed away 5 weeks ago, but i remember dreading the funeral because of all the noticeable weight. I even had to buy a new suit because of the extra few stone.

It's crazy how quick it piles on, i was a few lbs off a 6-pack in March.

But anyway, yes, you go, 100%, fck what others think of you, and trust me no one will care, it's all in our heads.

Just say fck it, and go have some fun and enjoy yourself!

Crimson Dynamo 30-08-2025 07:45 PM

Why in earth do you have to go to a beach on a holiday. If you do go no one is looking at you or cares how fat you are. Rather silly attitude

Ammi 30-08-2025 07:47 PM

….absolutely go CeeCee, a holiday still be great for you and (…I think…)…that you delayed last years…it’s to relax your mind as well as your body and we all need that and whether you went or didn’t go, that weight would still be the same so it’s a bit of a no brainier….goooooooo…!!!!!…and only think about having a wonderful time and a great break/holiday…

…anything else that you might look at in your life…?..as Scarlett and Moira Rose would say…tomorrow is another day…/…have the best time, my love…

Yeah it was very nerve wracking.

I might get into more detail about it in the near future, i just find it all hard to talk about atm tbh. You actually posted a message on my wall on the morning of the funeral, made me smile.

Go and enjoy yourself. We're all different shapes and sizes. Be confident and proud.

Vanessa 30-08-2025 08:07 PM

When I go to the beach I bring my tent. It gives me privacy and that makes me more confident.

Slight tangent.,

Up north we would say ..

“ when I go to the beach I TAKE my tent “

Strange how the different regions differ ..

I was watching footie a while back and the commentator said “ he’s went for the ball “ and it sounded odd as we would say “ he’s gone for the ball “

Swan, I'm sorry for your loss.

It really does pile on quickly and it's such a journey to get it off. If your mind is not in it it's so difficult...and my mind really isn't on it. Working hybrid hasn't helped either.

Well excuse me :bawling:

I watch to watch the ocean and also the sunset. The ocean is my happy place.

With the age of social media when even Louise from HR posts photos like an influencer on the gram it's easy to compare and contrast and see what is deemed (acceptable). (I know I know social media isn't real)

Working on it

Sorry for your loss swan. Hope you are ok. I’m guessing that’s why you haven’t been on much.

For the holiday question, go, no one will care that you are fat, every person has different body types. Enjoy your holiday

Hello  I definitely do need the time off. True the weight is there regardless. Either be miserable at home or a lovely country abroad. lol.

Three of your poll-options are basically saying the same thing, to be fair. But go. No-one’s judging.

caprimint 31-08-2025 12:47 AM

If you don't feel comfortable then I'd probably say don't go because you won't really enjoy it if that's all you're thinking about the whole time, but if you're not that bothered then definitely still go because nobody else cares what you look like at all. So it really depends on your own thoughts/feelings. How about when you go to the beach you could wear something that covers your body (like a light dress/long shirt sort of thing) if that makes you feel any more comfortable?

Mystic Mock 31-08-2025 01:03 AM

If I can go outside, then anyone can.

I'm sorry to hear about your Grandad, Swan.

Nothing feels right when you lose a family member, especially if you had a really strong bond with the person.

Oliver_W 31-08-2025 05:08 AM

It's no-one else's business what you look like  and it's none of your business what other people think, so who cares, just go on whatever holiday you want :)

How to become Beach Body Ready:
Step 1 - have a body.
Step 2 - take it to the beach.

I'm trying to not be bothered but I'm probably fooling myself BUT BUT on the upside, beach is not the only thing I have planned. I do have other things lined up and I'm hoping that it will be so good that I won't be bothered about looking like a house

…on the upside, you may have an earthquake or a hurricane or tsunami there so you don’t get a chance to wear that bikini on the beach…:fan:…seriously though, take it with you and when you get there…wear it if you feel like it/don’t if you don’t …just absorb and enjoy everything you want to on your own terms…..

…you know that there won’t be any such thing as those, I’m just talking nonsense, of course…but seriously, take your bikini and see what you feel when you get there…you’ll wear it if you feel that you want to but your holiday time will have so much to offer and so many options, regardless…
