CassetteFinger 24-07-2007 07:31 AM

Im a catholic.

Stu 24-07-2007 08:07 AM

Freethought/Secular/Humanist/Atheist

I dont like the term Atheist because it itself has morphed into a religion , which contradicts exactly what its supposed to be. And nobody tries harder to recruit than the Atheists

Ann 24-07-2007 08:25 AM

im Catholic

Sunny_01 24-07-2007 08:54 AM

Atheism is not a religion or a philosophy. Atheism simply means "without belief in god(s)".

Strictly yes but as I said it has evolved into a religion through the medium of popular culture and overussage of the word by spotty teenage types searching for something or someone to be angry at.

I see it now as a set of beliefs one of which is the disbelief of an all powerfull deity.

And what of it not being a philosophy?! Of course its a philosophy.

Atheism is a philosophical view that is the position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods or rejects theism.

There is to much **** going on in the world for there to be any gods. If there are gods and they let this **** go on, then I want no part of their vindictive nasty ways. And don't give me any of this free will ****.

Amy 24-07-2007 10:27 AM

I'm catholic.. I feel though that religion cause's far too many arguments and wars these days. I don't go to church anymore or ever feel people should feel they have to or feel a certain way.

Stu 24-07-2007 10:33 AM

If I was to believe in a God , I think you can worship whatever God you care to worship without the need to brand yourself into a religion. I dont know why more people see this.

I cant stand the boys in Italy , homophobic and anti-contraception. The vatican is a classic example of something caught up in a time warp.

MarkWaldorf 24-07-2007 10:34 AM

I never took Religious studies, but is Church of England Christianity?

I agree with you Stu. You can do whatever you want to do in this life and believe whatever you want to.

And I agree with your comment on the Vatican.

That goes back to that theory I love. Its not exactly the most healthy theory , but a makes a lot of sense - it states that one should be able to do what he wants with his or her own physical body providing it does not interfere in a negative way with the lives of others.

I voted atheist (with a small 'a'). I still believe in a deity though, of sorts. I suppose it's closest to the Gaia hypothesis, but I'm not up for being a happy-clapper in accordance with someone else's guidelines.

Lauren 24-07-2007 11:43 AM

I've voted other.

Open-minded freethinker.

Emilee 24-07-2007 11:49 AM

im catholic

*Adäm 24-07-2007 11:52 AM

I don't believe in any. Religion actually angers me as its basically strict rules that you need to live your life to...no thanks! No for me.

Protestantism is a branch of the Christian religion, similar to Catholicism.

Its a branch of christianity and as far as I know they dont believe in the immaculate conception. The name comes from 'protest' im presuming as it was various people going against the vatican during the reformation...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reformation

loads of stuff on wiki

Dan_ 24-07-2007 11:58 AM

Other-Agnostic.I lend myself more towards the weak agnostic view of whilst the existence or non-existence of deities is currently unknown I'm still open to there being a God but need conclusive proof before I can truly believe.

Oops, I shall just be that then.

Dr43%er 24-07-2007 12:07 PM

The prods can use condoms. Catholics can't. This should explain.

Lots of references to sperm in this song. You can decide from that if it is safe for you.

Thanks Lauren, Stu and Dr43%er for the help

Dr43%er 24-07-2007 12:14 PM

I am sure there are loads of other differences. To me though Prods are just Caths that didn't wont the whole guilt, rules and having lots of kids thing.

Although I think now it's got to the point where the only difference is that they're born into different families. Often prods don't make a rational decision to become one, they're born into it and follow it.
My family are Irish and I'm "meant" to be Protestant but (thankfully!) my parents decided to wait until I was at an age where I could choose.

sol 24-07-2007 01:20 PM

I suppose I'm an atheist cos I don't go to Church or anything but there is religion in my family. My dad was brought up as a Catholic, mum was brought up C of E, and I went to a Protestant private school lol but like me they don't practice their religion.
Oh and also I wasn't baptised so I think that deffo means I'm an atheist.

spitfire 24-07-2007 01:28 PM

Protestant.

LovelyL 24-07-2007 03:16 PM

Atheist

JeanP! 24-07-2007 03:21 PM

I'm Catholic :cheer2:

Matt08 24-07-2007 03:25 PM

Athiest for me. God and Jesus etc. is a load of crap.

nodisharmony 27-07-2007 10:37 AM

Protestant

I was christened that way too:thumbs:

It's lovely to be able to lead my life without any rules or regulations from "Religion"

I don't even look up about it in books or the internet, nor do I care either.

Don't let religion rule your life. Many Catholics have to do this, have to do that, follow this rule, follow that rule, etc.. etc..

I am free from any of that and that is the only way in my opinion and many, many others too.

nodisharmony

GabrielleisLove 27-07-2007 11:24 AM

cepb 27-07-2007 11:26 AM

natjake2504 27-07-2007 11:27 AM

Kristen 27-07-2007 11:43 AM
