Benidorm discussion: Filming begins this week for S5!
Benidorm
A Tiger Aspect productction for ITV1 Benidorm, creatated and written by award-winning writer Darren Little , returns for a second series to the delights of the all inclusive Solana Resort in Benidorm, bringing together a fiestata of bullfighting, arm wrestling, romance, night-time beacach actactactivities and... a cucumber. Back at the popular resort are The Garveys: Mick (Steve Pemberton), Janice (Siobhan Finneran), kids Telle and Michael, and outspoken grandma Madge (Sheila Reid). There’s also two new arrivals to the family: Mel (Geoffrey Hutchings) – owner of five sun bed shops and Didsbury’s answer to Julio Inglesias – and 17 year old Telle’s new baby, Coolio. Jonny Vegas returns as The Oracle who, at 37, is still determined to make the big break from his mum, or PA as he calls her (Elsie Kelly), and Kate (Abigail Cruttenden) and Martin (Nicholas Burns) who are never, ever coming back to Benidorm. Also returning are gay couple Gavin (Hugh Sachs) and Troy (Paul Bazely) who got engaged at the Solana last year and return a year later to ‘the scene of the crime’, and good-hearted swingers Donald (Kenny Ireland) and Jacqueline (Janine Duvitski) with the happy reminiscences of Big Donna and the MSA (Middlesborough Swingers Association). Guest star appearances include Wendy Richard, playing Sylvia - a wheelchair riding love rival for Madge - and Margi Clarke playing Dorothy, Gavin’s estranged mother. |

Last nights was good !
I never raelly watched the last series closely!! I love it =D x |
The first episode of series 2 got 6.5m (28%) which is the programmes highest ratings ever. I'm glad it did great because it is such a funny and brilliant programme.
|
6.5m would also be ITV's highest 9pm weekday slot of the year? Very impressive. It will be interesting to see how much it can hold on to.
|
Yeah it is ITV's 9pm weekday slot this year so far, it's up against My Family next week so it could lose some viewers.
|
It will lose some but I don't think My Family will dent Benidorm that much and vice versa.
Benidorm I would say on the whole appeals to the working class and the younger 16-34 audience, but My Family IMO appeals to the middle class, and families with children. My Family doesn't actually start until a week on Friday, not this Friday () so Benidorm will have a fortnights headstart to build up a fan base and with My Family you need to take into account its established slot is 8.30pm. |
This was really funny again this week. Makes me laugh out loud!!!
