x_mel_x 02-01-2008 03:25 PM

Matt08 02-01-2008 03:42 PM

x_mel_x 02-01-2008 04:11 PM

I had a little look on the University of Westminster's website earlier. They do many types of journalism related courses. My local universities (Worcester & Wolverhampton) only did a couple of courses. I don't go to university for another three years yet anyway.

Dr43%er 02-01-2008 04:32 PM

I went to Tothickfor University back in the early nineties.

Conor 02-01-2008 04:36 PM

I think Im too thick to go to university! lol. Anyway, Im only 14, so I shouldnt have to worry about that stuff.

x_mel_x 02-01-2008 04:41 PM

I'm in Year 12 so have to start looking this year as I'm going next year. I feel way to young!

Once your 15 then no doubt your school will be questioning everyone and asking what they want to do when they leave school/university etc.

Shaun 02-01-2008 05:09 PM

Exeter University, hopefully, to study English.

Sunny_01 02-01-2008 09:19 PM

Northumbria for my DipSW

Sunderland for CertEd

I have studied at most of the NE HE & FE institutes over the years to gather a whole host of useless qualifications from D32/D33 to Level 4 advice & guidance. I love education, I am always looking for new courses to do.

Oxymoron 02-01-2008 09:44 PM

Cambridge hopefully

to study Economical Mathematics

Princess 02-01-2008 10:00 PM

Trinity Dublin. Its the one Craig from Hollyoaks went to! My current course that I wanna do is childrens and general nursing. Its changes though.

Rory 02-01-2008 10:29 PM

See I'd like to come to a US University, but I only know of a few, and there the really 'higher up' ones, where you need to be really smart. And plus, I don't think they'd understand our grading system, only your GPA/SAT grades..

Lauren 02-01-2008 11:03 PM

I currently go to Lancaster University doing a science degree in Psychology.

See, we only know of Oxford and Cambridge lol. There are tons, but the ivy league schools usually get the most publicity (much like Oxford and Cambridge).

I have no clue how the grading system over there works, then. GPA/SAT is much easier to understand for me. :P

supernoodles! 03-01-2008 08:32 AM

I dont want to go to university,i used to though,i went to an open day at durham uni but i changed my career plans and i dont need to go to uni anymore.

HeatherH7 03-01-2008 12:51 PM

I'd like to go to Glasgow uni coz then I wouldnt have to move away.
But you need really good grades for that...

Legend 04-01-2008 01:46 AM

Recently decided against Uni but if for some reason I decide to do go then I'd want to get far, far away.

LovelyL 04-01-2008 09:55 PM

i've just done my ucas and really want to get into bournemouth uni to do mental health nursing so fingers crossed i get in that one!!!!

Matt08 05-01-2008 01:16 AM

How many points do you usually get for your GCSE'S if you get between A*-C.

Legend 06-01-2008 12:51 AM

^^ you don't get UCAS points from your GCSE'S towards Uni as far as I know. It's all from your a-levels.

Ah ok, I had the impression that a few points came from GCSE's and the rest from A-Levels.

True, the second we went into year 10, the collage and university assemblies started. We even had a assembly with Uni people coming in and telling us why we should go to uni, was cringeworthy, them trying to talk in funny voices.

ProjectWeirdo 06-01-2008 03:28 PM

I'm hoping to go to Trinity College, Carmarthen. It says College, but it's actually an Uni. It concentrates mostly on artistic, creative things, so I'm hoping to go in for a degree in Creative Writing and English.

There's a few years to go, but I can't wait. :cheer:

Arneldo 06-01-2008 03:31 PM

Ideally, I'd like to go to Dublin City University to do Communication Studies. But I suppose it all depends on the results I get.

LovelyL 06-01-2008 09:20 PM

i thought you did get points for your gcses

Bells 08-01-2008 06:36 PM

I keep changing my mind. I've applied, but right now I'm just undecided. It's difficult to make such big decisions now for me.

Might just take a gap year, we'll see. I'm unsure if I'll get the grades I need for courses I'm interested in. I'll still be 18 on entry after a gap year.

Polka.dot 02-06-2008 08:22 PM

bump. because people might be going to uni later this year.

i've taken a gap year because i got BCC in my a levels when i expected to get ABB (for a law & marketing course). instead of retaking a levels though i've just decided to go for a completely different course... and that's nursing at keele school of nursing & midwifery. but with a foundation year cos i only did chemistry up to AS level and got an E.

Still the same! And my second choice is General Nursing in Trinity which is A LOT less points so either way I get to go to my dream uni-yayyyyyyyyyyyyy.

Your UCAS points come solely from AS and A levels, but some Uni's (mainly Oxbridge) take into consideration GCSE's when deciding whether to give you an offer/interview. Most don't really consider them though.

Corkie 02-06-2008 09:46 PM

I'm aiming for Edinburgh hopefully i'll get in and do english.

Stewart 04-06-2008 11:10 PM

I go to Lancaster University - love it, the place is amazing!

Xander 04-06-2008 11:34 PM

I aiming to go to Falmouth University or Saint Martins in London.

sol 05-06-2008 02:45 AM

I go to Southampton University and study history. Just about to finish my first year!

Captain.Remy 05-06-2008 05:01 AM

I've been accepted to the University of Marseille Provence. I am so glad, it's so amazing !!! I'm going to rock my International Business Degree ! :cheer2:

GiRTh 05-06-2008 12:34 PM

I went to Leicester university.

Fom 07-06-2008 11:44 AM

My main choice is "Central school of speech and drama at London University"
Wether I get in is a different story, its very popular and only takes on 80 odd students a year for the course I want to take. I start at a quite well known drama school next year and I'm finishing my BTEC there so hopefully that will improve my chances, I just have to have a bloody good audition.
If that doesnt work out then I have some back ups.

Greenwich university
St Martins College of Art and Design.
