New maximum size of signature (1 banner 550x300px max + 5 lines of text)
 

Signature sizes are getting too big. Here's the new limit...

One banner with a maximum size of 550px x 300px plus no more than 5 lines of text. (Thin banners and icons can count as one line in addition to the main banner).

It will be simpler to only allow one banner instead of two.

Also these animated avatars and signatures are slowing things down (especially if you open more than one thread at once) so can you make sure that the avatar and banner is no more than 300KB in size.

Right-click on the picture and select Properties to check.

We'll start removing banners and avatars over the limit after a week.

Few...... It was getting rather crowded in the threads..... I feel sorry for the people who are still using dial-up. It must take ages to load a page

300KB is 300,000 bytes. Didn't realise when you right-click on the picture and click Properties it gives the size in bytes.

There is an avatar limit - 150x160.

The admins and mods are probably allowed larger avatars.

^I don' think that will be the case he probably doesn't realise.

It dosnt let you upload an avatar thats over 150 x 160 does it?

Text should be fine. If it doesn't fit, it usually goes onto a new line.

Let's try something new here... the size of sigs will be limited to 380 pixels in height (pictures plus lines of text). If more than that needs to be displayed a link will appear, 'Show full sig' which lets people view the whole thing.

I think it works... (most of the time :cheer2::conf2:) Whichever theme you use might have a slight effect as, I believe, some themes have bigger fonts.

When you click "Show full sig" can there not be then an option to "unshow" it afterwards? I know what I mean, I just can't word it right :laugh:

I don't like the "Show full sig" option. Not because of what it does, but because of how its worded. If it said "Show full signature" I'd be happy. I hate the word sig. Ewww it reminds me of a moudly warehouse of some sort.

I had to get rid of loads of things in my sig because of this. :sad: Why is the size being reduced again?

I'm not enjoying this, my banner has been cut and my little icons took away. Why can't they be bigger?

It's not being reduced. I set it to the height of one big banner plus 5 lines of text, although it can vary a little.
