New format twist unveiled...

Song for survival
The X Factor results show has always been a tense half hour of top entertainment - but to add to the drama, tonight's viewers will see their favourite format updated with a brand new twist.

For the first time ever, the two bottom-placed contestants will choose an all-time favourite track to perform while the nation registers their final votes. Until this point, contenders have performed the night's rehearsed track again.

The change is proving popular. After all, it's a fabulous opportunity for the contestants to take fate into their very own hands, showing the public exactly what they - and their voices - can do.

Each song will handpicked by the desperate contenders themselves, each believing the track they have chosen will give them the best chance of staying in the show.

Of course, we have no idea yet which contestants will face this final trial in their fight for X Factor survival.

But you can be sure that whoever steps up to the microphone to sing again will put every inch of their heart and soul into a song they know and believe in.

This track will be known as the Song for Survival. The result of the vote is in your hands. So listen to the performances, and then decide. Who will you choose to save?

LOVE THIS.
:cheer2:

Arneldo 11-10-2008 04:31 PM

So the judges vote has been scapped?
So this basically just American Idol were watching now?

Luke6591 11-10-2008 04:32 PM

i KNO I LOVED THE jUDGES DECISION

Hugo 11-10-2008 04:34 PM

Arneldo 11-10-2008 04:35 PM

Can't say I'm a fan of this at all. What made XF different from the likes of Idol was that the judges vote and now that gone.

Tom 11-10-2008 04:36 PM

So theres no judges vote? :puzzled:

Hugo 11-10-2008 04:37 PM

Well at least we don't have to listen to the same song twice.

Luke6591 11-10-2008 04:37 PM

i fink they are doing this cos the fav's kept going and people kept complaining about it and the judges would vote tactically.

But thats my opinion its not whats happened just to let yopu know :spin2:

Nope. It's says the bottom 2 will sing their "Song for Survival" while "the nation registers their final votes".

Can't say I like that idea tbh ...

I'm all for song for survival but its the judges vote that I like, it just shows the power they have

Billy 11-10-2008 04:42 PM

Amazing idea. It's finally about the contestants, and not the judges

cokecokecoke 11-10-2008 04:43 PM

I can predict sunday's headlines already:

"The Fix Factor: Complaints Made As Votes Not Counted"

MarkWaldorf 11-10-2008 04:44 PM

Baaaddd idea. It's a talent show but we all know how some people vote. Women get attached to the men and they really get the most votes..

I can see some talented people getting affected by this.

i agree wiv this

x_mel_x 11-10-2008 04:48 PM

I think there doing it just to get more money out of us. Saying that I'll probably be one of the people who vote.

xDramatick 11-10-2008 04:51 PM

I love this idea!

Brekkie 11-10-2008 05:11 PM

A shame the judges vote has gone, even if it was generally predictable and drawn out, especially by Louis.

I thought they got the balance right last year though with the "deadlock" situation, meaning the public vote could still come into play if the votes were tied.

Good move though on the different songs - especially as general speaking it's a bad choice of song (from the judges) that puts an act in the bottom two.

I never thought about that
Someone like Daniel might beat Diana or Laura.

I can see it being people like Austin etc I'm not saying he's bad because he isn't....but when it comes down to him being against someone like Alex or Laura, it'll be him who stays.

andybigbro 11-10-2008 05:21 PM

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Conzors 11-10-2008 05:34 PM

Nooo :(

Indierock&roll 11-10-2008 05:38 PM

i dont get it :|
but from what i understand i dont like at all!
i dont want any bit of x factor to change!!!!

Tom 11-10-2008 05:43 PM

Its been changed, judges vote as usual

Nicola 11-10-2008 05:48 PM

I think it could work as it would give a contestant who has a bad song choice the chance to redeem themselves. It would also mean genuinely good acts would stay longer, rather than be the result of judges working against each other as has happened in past series, or a judge having to decide which of their own acts to send home.

Luke6591 11-10-2008 09:30 PM

OMG it was confusing that article on the X Factor website made it seem as if the Judges vOTE HAD GONE BUT it seems as if they have kept it.

Sorry if it misled sum ppl but that is what it sounded like

rayheartbliss 11-10-2008 09:32 PM

i think singing what they want is good
