Z 26-10-2008 01:42 PM

They normally take those rubbish plastic ones round our school, that you can't even pin to yourself, but I always do, yeah.

I buy one every year and always wear it.

Legend 27-10-2008 08:27 PM

No. I understand completely what they're about, and completely respect the cause, I just don't see how pinning a paper flower to me is 'showing respect' to be fair.

Jake! 27-10-2008 08:35 PM

I buy a poppy out of respect for my Great-Great-Grandad and everyone else who lost their life in any war...

Fair enough - what about the money that they make from selling the poppies?

Sticks 28-10-2008 06:43 AM

I see people wearing them but can not see where they are on sale.

The bus driver said he got his on Ebay :conf2:

Supermarkets sell them.

Sticks 28-10-2008 06:51 AM

That is where I am going wrong then

I avoid supermarkets like the plague and shop at the market or in local shops

*mazedsalv** 28-10-2008 08:05 AM

I bought one 3 days ago.

NettoSuperstar! 28-10-2008 08:39 AM

A woman came to my door and sold me one! I always buy one. People died for our freedom!

Sticks 28-10-2008 03:19 PM

Our works have just got them in, but I need to wait until Friday (Pay day) before I can get one

Jake! 28-10-2008 04:59 PM

Poppies are an honour of respect and I believe everyone should wear one, at least on the day...

Jackie 28-10-2008 05:15 PM

I used to but don't bother now.

Watch out girl.

Poppies have opium within.

Opium can send you to sleep.

I saw it in the wizard of oz.

But when I walked into the perfume shop to buy my mum a present it was rather expensive.

Take it off.

It's nearly time for bed.

I dont want you to stab yourself with a pin.

Blood on white sheets really show up.

"and I'm not talking periods either"

AngRemembered 28-10-2008 09:33 PM

Most charity shops sell them, I always support the poppy appeal and have done so this year its a truly great cause:thumbs:

hannah. 30-10-2008 12:51 PM

Sticks 30-10-2008 04:50 PM

Do some people still think they are glorifying war?

I did wonder with the war against terror, some might see it as related to that, even though it predates it by several decades :bored:
