A bakery in kidderminster has been advertising ginger persons and staff been correcting those asking for a gingerbread man by saying they no longer sell them and can only offer a ginger person.



*England flag deemed racist*
A football fan in wiltshire says police ordered him to remove an england flag from his car because it could be deemed to be racist and offensive.

We were told at work that we should not criticise political correctness in any way shape or form as it is trying to do the right thing.

*Human rights farce of car thieft on roof*
Police in gloucester brought food and cigaretts to a suspected car thief who refused to come down from the top of a building as they were concerned about his "human rights". As many as 50 police surrounded the building only to find the suspect begin bombarding them with bricks and tiles. Instead of forcing the suspect down, officers sent up a kentucky fried chicken meal and a packet of cigarettes.

being politically correct is trying not to offend groups of people by the things you say, the bollocks youve just come out with is usually made up by the papers and comes from meetings where people are discussing what may or may not be offensive. In reality those kind of things dont happen. And as for the man on the roof he could have actually been mentally ill do you think it might be a good idea to be nice to him or just let him dies eh?

Can political correctness be taken too far just to avoid upset? At times political correctness can do more damage than good.

A school in nottingham sent letters to parents saying that the nativity play is delayed until new year due to eid. Been in the papers, news, radio etc. The problem is that "PC" can be taken to far and used for no reason. Some councils go too far just to avoid upset.. Upset that was never there in the first place.

Proof I want proof that all this has actually happened and is not some twisted version of summat else entirely

lol his nottingham story sounds like it probably happend. But the spin he puts on it is wild. I'm sure the other story about the cop stopping a drunk car passenger was true too but the spin he added was about guessing the police officer's motivation.... which he wasn't privy to. Seems unlikely given the cop didn't need any more reason than the guy being a drunken idiot.

The one show(BBC1 programme) recently looked into some of this, like the winter tree thing and changing christmas to the "winter" festival and they found it doesnt happen anywhere

I'd like to interject.

A lot of people like to shout about how "muslims are coming here and changing things".

However, there used to be a shop near me which was owned and run by an Indian man who was muslim and did not celebrate Christmas.

His shop was the only one in this area which sold traditional Christmas cards with the nativity scene on it. All the other shops had cartoon santas etc.

Doesn't that show in this instance at least, that this particular gentleman was willing to provide a service to the people in the community in which he lived, even though he did not celebrate Christmas in his culture? Doesn't it also show a willingness to integrate into a multi-cultural community without changing things to suit either party?

A lot of the "PC" stories are blown out of all proportion to cater to the whimsical notions of the closet racists, and to attempt to create a racist mindset in the general population.

Linda, maybe your Asian shop keeper stocked those items simply to make money.

Name calling is against the rules, please read the rules. Political correctness is real and is not all about race. Problem is that PC can go too far, some just want to please others without using common sence, at times that is thrown out of the window. There is good points and bad points with political correctness. By calling me names and saying i'm part of the bnp just shows that some have a mob mindset without being grown up about the subject, not ever have i made this into a race topic, that is comming from others. If i question political correctness does that make me a racist? If i disagree with a council calling christmas lights "winter lights" a racist? Lets all walk on egg shells due to the PC MOB.

Of course he stocked them to make money. He's a shopkeeper.

However, it shows in this instance, that he doesn't have any desire to bring his culture here and get rid of ours, as is suggested by some.
