The Kelly Clarkson Thread

Princess 23-12-2008 01:11 AM

Ahhhhhh how did I miss this thread!!!!!

Brilliance! Can't wait to hear her new stuff.

MarkWaldorf 23-12-2008 01:12 AM

I really hope it's like something from Breakaway. My December wasn't really my thing, except for Sober which is pretty amazing.

Princess 23-12-2008 01:14 AM

I love both of them, but do tend to listen to Breakaway more as it's one of my favourite albums of all time.

MarkWaldorf 23-12-2008 01:15 AM

I'm praying for something like Since You Been Gone. I heard it was like an up-tempo 'Who Knew' by Pink though, which is also pretty good!

Locke. 23-12-2008 01:16 AM

Yeah there are posters all around my college for her new single for some reason :puzzled:

MarkWaldorf 23-12-2008 01:17 AM

^Really? :S

Locke. 23-12-2008 01:30 AM

Yeah, don't know why, I've never seen them for any other artist.

Noel 23-12-2008 09:20 AM

Omg I can't wait! I've been waiting for her new album for ages! I really didn't like My December. I thought it too depressing and grungy for me. I really hop she cheers up in this one, and the new single sounds great! Go Kelly! :D

Fom 23-12-2008 09:30 AM

With the new image of her single covers I can pretty much guarantee a happier album, its a lot more siwrly and pink. Unlike the dark edgy cover of My December.

I am glad she did My December though, it wasn't pop and it established her as a real artist and not just a pop star. In my own opinion some of her best songs are on there and some of her worst songs are on there, songs like 'Sober' and 'Maybe' a pure genious songs!
For anyone worrying what it will sound like here is an article:

Kelly Clarkson's New Single "My Life Would Suck Without You" Hits Radio January 19th

12/22/08, 3:45 pm EST

Kelly Clarkson will reportedly return January 19th when "My Life Would Suck Without You," the first single from her upcoming fourth album, hits radio. Rolling Stonegot an early listen to a few tunes from the still-untitled disc (expected out March 17th) and can report they are, in two words, totally awesome. Reports that Clarkson was making a country record were incorrect - the new album is stocked with primo pop hits reminiscent of Breakaway.

Clarkson left fans a video message (above) where she announces a Website change (she's ditching kellyclarksonweb.com for kellyofficial.com). She also established a voice mailbox where fans can call in for updates on all things Kelly. Clarkson previously posted in late October that she had finished recording her new album, the former American Idol winner's first since 2007's My December.

Can't wait!
I hope she has a few tracks that are My December-ish.
I preferred MD to Breakaway, so yeah. I don't mind her doing more Breakaway stuff again as long as there's a few darker tracks like Haunted or Judas :D

xDramatick 25-12-2008 05:41 PM

These are the lyrics, someone on another forum's relative works for RCA and they have the song but wrote down the lyrics rather than leaking it:

Quote:

My..Life..
it used to be so perfect
not a thing to worry about
I used to be so happy
with you in my life

(CHORUS)
My...Life..
Was Once complete with you in it
then you turn and walk away
but there is one thing I know...
My Life Would Suck Without You
It would be so incomplete
things would be so different
It would be so hard to see
My Life Would Suck....
Without You

Met you as a child
We grew so close together
Things began to change
What happened to the love we used to have
&that's all they gave.

She's also recorded a song called 'Sanity'

DamonJ 25-12-2008 05:43 PM

Yay!
Wayne Isham did Bitney's 'Piece Of Me' & 'I'm Not A Girl' if I'm not mistaken. =D

Fom 25-12-2008 06:10 PM

I would take those lyrics with a pinch of salt, a friend of mine with good connections said this:

Quote:

Those aren't the lyrics. Sanity doesn't exist.
Plus others think the person who wrote the lyrics were trying to hard to relate it to the theme of the video, I don't believe the lyrics, they don't sound very kelly-ish. We will see, but I doubt they are true, if the people I talk to dont believe them then I dont.

Fom 02-01-2009 12:15 AM

New single cover! She looks sexy as hell!
She is going to be massive, I can feel it, the picture is clearly very photoshopped... but its still nice!

Kelly Clarkson, "Masquerade," (RCA) March.

The "American Idol" winner's last album, "My December" in 2007, was supposed to be the singer's big personal artistic statement, filled with raw rock songs that Ms. Clarkson wrote largely on her own, without input from the hitmeisters whose tunes made her a star. The album yielded only middling sales, however, along with a canceled concert tour and a humiliating fight with label head Clive Davis over the direction of her music. For her fourth album, Ms. Clarkson is "in a period where she wants to take on the pop world again," says RCA general manager Tom Corson. "She's ready, and she's got all the right support." That includes the input of writer-producers like Max Martin, Howard Benson and Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, who were behind some of Ms. Clarkson's biggest pop hits.

I can't wait, I read it on DS this morning.

Princess 03-01-2009 12:51 PM

Eek new album! So excited. Sounds like it's gonna be amazing.

Damaris 03-01-2009 12:52 PM

I actually have only heard 2 Kelly Clarkson songs.

I will have to listen to more.

Any recommendtions?

Fom 03-01-2009 12:53 PM

After thinking about it... I think its a really interesting title. Masquerade means a party with masks, it makes me think is there something she is covering up? Or is this whole pop act just a cover up. I know Kelly prefers doing her darker stuff. Very clever title I must say...

MarkWaldorf 05-01-2009 01:10 PM

Still no song :@

Fom 05-01-2009 03:39 PM

No song guys! BUT, I have the official lyrics for you all
Here they are:

Quote:

'My Life Would Suck Without You'
Guess this means you're sorry
You're standing at my door
Guess this means you take back
What you said before
Like how much you wanted
Anyone but me
Said you'd never come back
But here you are again
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Maybe I was stupid for telling you goodbye
Maybe I was wrong for tryin' to pick a fight
I know that I've got issues
But you're pretty messed up too
Anyway, I found out I'm nothing without you
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you
Being with you is so dysfunctional
I really shouldn't miss you, but I can't let go
Oh yeah
Cuz we belong together now
Forever united here somehow
You got a piece of me
And honestly
My life would suck without you

Fom 05-01-2009 03:48 PM

I just read them properly now... they are so sweet. About time Kelly had an upbeat song, the cutest lyrics ive ever read!

Tom 05-01-2009 04:07 PM

I hope its a faster one, I like her faster stuff

Miss Independent is in my 20 favourite songs ever

Princess 05-01-2009 07:37 PM

Awwww those are cute lyrics! I love cute.

MarkWaldorf 06-01-2009 04:59 PM

Popjustice is reporting that the album title is All I Ever Wanted rather than Masquerade, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. A few Katy Perry tunes are rumored to be on the album, including one called “Long Shot”. Also, rumor has it that the Daughtry duet is on, and it’s called “Temporary.”

I was about to post about the album title. I would FAR much prefer Masquerade over AIEW. And I must say I really hope that she doesn't choose the Katy Perry songs, they are pathetically bad.
I think someone over at the place I get info said that the duet was not gonna be on this album, but they did do a duet, and could possibly be on his album. But I must say there is a LOT of hype surrounding this single/album. Im just worried its gonna be breakaway 2.

Anyway to why I came here, popjustice have just heard the song this is what they said:

As our Twitter followers already know, we went to Sony HQ earlier today. Our mission was to have a little listen to the new Kelly Clarkson single, 'My Life Would Suck Without You'.

What's it like? Well, you cannot escape the fact that the intro is so similar to 'Since U Been Gone' you will probably think you are indeed listening to 'Since U Been Gone'. Lyrically the song does actually lend itself to thoughts of being a sort of 'Since U Been Gone Part Two' and one could, at a push, see it picking up that song's story four years on with Kelly realising that despite the earlier song's defiant howl of independence she does, in fact, want her ex back. 'My Life Would Suck Without You' is about the fella returning tail between legs ("guess this means you take back what you said before, like how much you wanted anyone but me") and a relationship starting up again and being quite jolly in spite of all the previous nonsense.

The chorus goes "we belong together now, forever united here somehow, you got a piece of me and honestly my life would suck without you". Except it's not just "my life would suck without you", it's "my life (MY LIFE!) would suck (WOULD SUCK!) without you". "I know that I've got issues but you're pretty messed up too" is another good line; we also like the middle eight bit with "being with you is so dysfunctional, I really shouldn't miss you, but I can't let you go".

It is structured like this:

1. Long intro with 'Since U Been Gone' guitary noise.

2. Vocal joins guitary nose with drumbeat.

3. Song explodes into chorus.

4. Song pulls back into second verse.

5. Chorus

6. Middle eight: everything drops out, 'Since U Been Gone' guitar noise starts up underneath vocal, drumbeats and Since U Been Gone guitar noise lead into big whooshing noise into...

7. Chorus which leads to hilarious 80s rolling synth drumfill thing (we don't know what it is but you'll know what we mean when you hear it) which leads to...

8. Final chorus, sudden end, guitar noise, 'fin'.

There is no bridge. NO BRIDGE! Production is halfway between 'Since U Been Gone' and Pink's 'So What', with some drum machines chucked in. The song is three minutes and thirty two seconds long - only two seconds away from the Optimum Pop Duration - and comes in at about 145bpm. This BPM means that nightclub rotation will inspire more in the way of hands in the air/pointing/shouting than proper dancing. The song is better than anything Kelly did before 'Since U Been Gone' and it's also better than anything she's done since 'Since U Been Gone', so it should keep people happy. It is a pop song.

MarkWaldorf 07-01-2009 04:07 PM

It sounds like a SUBG part 2 then, lol. I'm still pumped for it!! :D

http://www.bbc.co.uk/switch/annieandnick/show.shtml

Kelly's going to be on Switch Sunday evening! Do you think she'll play the single? She is in the studio, so perhaps :dance2:

Fom 07-01-2009 05:27 PM

I dont think Kelly would fly over to the UK to not release the single, it would just be a phone call job. Im so excited for Sunday! :) I will be glued to the radio, I am also thinking if she is flying over... she must be doing something else, I doubt she would fly over just for the radio show. Or you would just ring in! I have checked sunday night project and Razorlight are performing that night so its not her.

I am so excited!!! The latest we will hear the single is Weds, which is a week today! ARGH!

MarkWaldorf 07-01-2009 05:37 PM

Do you think they'll play it though?

Radio 1 does get a few exclusives. I remember they were one of the first stations to play Womanizer on the first day of it's US release.

SNP films on Thursday night I think.
