Talk about A1 Racing here.

Just wondering do many of you F1 fans like A1?

AngRemembered 08-01-2009 04:51 PM

What exactly is A1 racing?, I've never heard of it before:shrug:

Iceman 08-01-2009 04:56 PM

em the kind of brief description is it's countries racing each other as opposed to drivers and theirs 2 races a sprint race which is short usually around 20 mins and a feature race which is much longer. The other major thing is that the teams use the "same" engine. Hope that helps!

Novo 08-01-2009 05:02 PM

which is the one jeremy and luke hines in again

F3 or A3 ???

Oh wow, now to me that sounds a lot more interesting than the F1 format. I'm glad I asked now, I'll certainly look to watch this when its on.
Thanks for the explanation:thumbs:

Iceman 08-01-2009 05:13 PM

It's still in it's infant years, 4 or 5 i'm not too sure, the whole idea of it is that everyone has the "same" car so it should show off driver talent if you know what i mean.

There was only supposed to be 9 races this season but they added Brazil recently so ther's 10 in total.

They've already had 3 races at the end of last year they were in the Netherlands, China and Malaysia.

The upcoming one is on the 25th in New Zealand, then the other 6 are Indonesia and South Africa(both in February), Mexico(March), Portugal(April) and Britain and Brazil(May).

pinkmichk 08-01-2009 05:32 PM

another question (sorry) is it shown on normal tv or just sports channels cos i might watch just to see what its like and stuff (i already watch touring car and F1 and sometimes go watch drag racing live)

Em we get it here in Ireland on TV3 i don't know if you get that, it's also on sky sports and some highlights are shown on setanta(Very basic though) I also just checked and i think Five may show highlights not too sure though. Hope that helps.

pinkmichk 08-01-2009 05:58 PM

of all those i only get channel 5 but will keep a eye out

Spike 08-01-2009 06:00 PM

Its shown on Sky Sports in the UK

Iceman 08-01-2009 06:08 PM

There's also an official youtube channel with highlight vids here's the link http://www.youtube.com/user/A1GPOFFICIAL. That should give you a good basis to catch up.:spin2:

James 08-01-2009 06:09 PM

Yeah, I watch it. It has some pretty good single-seater racing. You can watch the races live for free on the A1 GP website which is great.

Thanks James i didn't actually know they streamed it!

Iceman 25-01-2009 11:46 PM

Ireland still top of standings after the races today:cheer::cheer:

James 12-04-2009 01:36 PM

I was going to remember to watch the races today from Portugal but the A1GP website says they are not showing it live today because of satellite issues. It's only on Sky Sports live.

Team GBR should bring back Danny Watts, he's much better than this new guy they've got.

Iceman 12-04-2009 01:43 PM

Mexico round has been cancelled for obvious reasons so GB round this weekend is the final race of the season. Qualifying this afternoon, races tomorrow. Live streaming online for anyone interested, think I'll remember to watch this time.
