Features Gail Trimble
who many hate (on web sites)
as she is clever.

However be Great if Manchester beats the Oxford Toffs.

James 23-02-2009 07:18 PM

She's not on form so far.

arista 23-02-2009 07:57 PM

Oxford Wins

Manchester mad a error by getting a question wrong
then they lost 5 points.

Letting Oxford take the Win
at one point they were both about the same score.

Shaun 24-02-2009 01:47 AM

Argh, I keep missing this. When's it back on?

Lauren 24-02-2009 03:53 AM

A lot of hate directed toward Trimble is pure unadulterated jealousy. The girl did latin from a young age, and classics too. It's a matter of fact that UC is based around classics - thus she has an advantage. It's not a bad thing she's smart and knows the answers.

However, I hold a lot more envy toward the Manchester team. They held their own against Trimble (I'm not even going to say Corpus Christi, cos she clearly led the win), and only failed once they'd initially faltered.

Great final, though. Trimble held her own (well she had to, her team relied on her too much) by the end, when she saw impending doom, and Manchester worked amazingly to even have a chance.

arista 24-02-2009 07:16 AM

Yes it has been reported as Jealousy.

Paxman, to his credit,
last evening went on Radio 5 Live
he said many students are clever.
Older Pete Alan presenter
then said one of these girls was offered a deal to go nude in
a Paper.

Paxmen then said trying to be a Newspaper Editor are you
and left.

The BBC News put this up as a Story
making it worse and Plugging their show at the same time.
Very Typical.

James 24-02-2009 07:31 AM

There's also inverted snobbery I guess because she is 'posh' and, according to the papers, went to a fee-paying school.

Manchester were looking good in the final but Yeo made a couple of wrong interventions and then lost the impetus.

arista 24-02-2009 08:46 AM

Real shame Manchester made that Error that led to more
bad points.

arista 24-02-2009 09:14 AM

On the Wright Stuff on Ch5
they are now going to talk about Gail
and all the debate about her.

So one was not a University student.

"Losing finalists Manchester University
are believed to have demanded a rematch "

Yes a Live Rematch I would want
rushed onto TV.
Rules are Rules.

Do you have a View on this Mark?

Lauren 01-03-2009 08:35 AM

One WAS a University Student. It wasn't just a randomer. He just got a job after the first 2 airings.

To be fair, he must've lied at one point but it's not as bad as the story initially makes out.

How can you have a Rematch when the Guilty One is
not at University.

Mind you
Replace him
and Demand a Live Rematch.
More Tension.

andyman 02-03-2009 06:43 PM

.... Well of course replace the fraud and have a real live rematch... Manchester are not winners, 2009 has a non-winner! But all is done now.

Yes make it Live UnCut
Tension show.

They would get millions watching.

Trouble is the BBC has no Balls.

Lauren 02-03-2009 08:56 PM

Ooh Oxford, you sexy rebels.

Sticks 02-03-2009 09:13 PM

Justice has been done

Manchester are the true winners, not a bunch of cheats

I wonder now if Miss Trimble's fiancé will now consider dumping her, after all who would want to be associated with a cheat?

Fom 02-03-2009 09:14 PM

Yeah! Go Manchester!!

"Manchester are the true winners" Well they did show that in the final... Plus it's not really cheating!

Yes, Sticks. I'm sure someone willing to propose to the one true love in their life is willing to throw it all away because someone on her University Challenge team left University after the first 2 shows. Sure thing.

andyman 02-03-2009 11:05 PM

^Oh the woman has brought shame to her family and must be cast out into the pits of of hell..

Lauren 02-03-2009 11:06 PM

Why is she even allowed to walk the streets a free woman? Someone lock her up before she does something REALLY wild.

andyman 02-03-2009 11:16 PM

^Dear lord! Walk the streets?!?! The thought of it just makes me want to spit out my breakaway.. Oh no wait it's a blue riband..

Her bf must be full of rage and i don't blame him, he needs to put his foot down and teach this woman how to be in public! Grrrr.

But truth be told, manchester are not the right winners.. A empty bottle of tango would still kick their ass! Trimble did kick their ass!

Shaun 03-03-2009 01:28 AM

Rofl, Sticks. Overreaction of the year.

James 03-03-2009 01:45 AM

I don't understand what the guy who became ineligible was meant to do when he left university. Drop out of the team?

andyman 03-03-2009 01:52 AM

Oxford did not even cheat!!
Manchest was beaten and nobody had cheated...

Manchester have no right to be winners!

Exactly. It's not like he exactly had an "advantage" by not being in University anymore either. He hardly made an addition to the team anyway. Manchester would've been slaughtered regardless.

Yes he should have done

Those are the rules and isn't it amazing that the team captain did not tel him to quit?

They are all cheats due to guilty by association.

If a group of people go to rob a place, and one of them kills a night watchmen, then by guilt of association they are all murderers.

They should have all told him to leave the team, but they did not, so they are all cheats.

They have brought shame and humiliation, so why would anyone want to associate with these people?

In earlier times they would all be shunned and disowned. :nono:

Shaun 03-03-2009 02:43 AM

Sticks, in "earlier times" women were burned at the stake if they were a bit weird, and black people had to give up their bus seats.

Lauren 03-03-2009 02:59 AM

I bet Trimble is dirtyyy between the sheets.

andyman 03-03-2009 03:46 AM

Trimble would beat manchester!! 1 against 4...

Nobody cheated.. Sticks is only joking.... Or is he?

Sticks 03-03-2009 05:07 AM

Miss Trimble should be made to enter a convent to become a nun for the rest of her days, preferably a silent order where she can silently pray for forgiveness in sackcloth for her grievous sin.

There is no way she could not have known her team mate was ineligible, and as captain the blame and responsibility stops with her. She kept silent.

I wonder why

I am now waiting to hear in the press that her fiancé has called off the wedding, since he now knows she is not above cheating.

Yes he should have done

Then they would only have had three players. Or if they replaced him it wouldn't have been fair either as the new person could have been a better player.

It should have been up to the producers to check whether they were all eligible.

arista 03-03-2009 07:31 AM

Yes the Bloated BBC
are Slack these days.

She was the team captain, so she was ultimately to blame
