Don't think Jack Dawson existed though, he was created just for the movie.

MrGaryy 30-03-2009 06:45 PM

I saw it at Christmas, I love it.

I agree btw, talk about selfish.

Novo 30-03-2009 06:48 PM

My favourite person in the movie was jacks friend forgot his name now

he died because the pillar fall on him

Novo 30-03-2009 06:49 PM

think his name was frabrisio or something

supernoodles! 30-03-2009 06:51 PM

I thought it was a true story Locke?
How could she let someone so gorgeous just die!and shes all I`ll never let go,I`ll never let go....and then she lets go:shocked:she could have just kept hold and then at least he could have had a proper burial etc. Also I was watching Romeo and Juliet today (I`ve been of college sick) and I was thinking at the end when there in the church and Romeo is saying bye to Juliet ,Juliet blatantly moves about a million times!what is he blind or something! And then when he drinks the poison and she nocks it out of his hand it looks as if he hasn`t even has chance to swallow it.Thats the problem with me and films I always think what if etc. lol

Dom:D 30-03-2009 06:55 PM

I love this film though I have never seen the start of it.

supernoodles! 30-03-2009 06:59 PM

noooo I can`t watch =[ its gonna sink

Locke. 30-03-2009 07:01 PM

The boat crashing was all real, but most of the characters were made up for the film.

supernoodles! 30-03-2009 07:04 PM

Oh I thought Rose was actually a real person lol

Novo 30-03-2009 07:28 PM

im a massive fan of the film and Titanic.

all charachters are bassed on real life people on board the maiden voyage except

Jack Dawson - his 2 friends
Rose and her mum
Cal and his bodyguard.

All other charachters like
Molly Brown
Thomas Andrews
Bruce Ismay etc

are all bassed on real people.

o btw. just another useless fact but Wednesday (March 31st) saw the 100th anniversaray of the start of construction of the actual Titanic

supernoodles! 02-04-2009 05:50 PM

so the exciting ones arent real then =P aww and I sooo wanted Jack and Rose to be based on real life.Ohh I see, diddn`t the Titanic sink on like the 15th of April or around that date or was that when it set off?

well years ago i did do some reasearch into the film. and there was a passenger called J Dawson. his first name is unknown and he is buried in the cemetary in Halifax, Cannada where most of the Titainc dead were buried.

Titanic set sail on April 10th 1912 at Mid day

She struck the iceburg at Approx 12.40 on the night of April 14th. It took 2 hours and 40 mins for her to sink. and she finally sunk on the morning of April 15th 1912 at 2.20am with the loss of over 1.500 people.

supernoodles! 02-04-2009 05:59 PM

ahh I see, near enough:tongue:Oh so obviously thats where the character of Jack came from then.2 hours and 20mins,seems like so much longer in the film, well I guess it would have to but I just imagined it always being longer.

I love Titanic! I hardly ever watch it though because it's too depressing.

Yeah i know.

Picture it.

Your on board a ship in the middle of the sea. a freezing cold night with nothing but the darkness in front of you.

You can feel the deck sloping under your feet and you know theres only two ways off the ship. But trying to get in a lifboat where there is only enough for less than half on board. or jumping into the freezing black sea where the longest you can survive is upto 20 minutes. what do you do?

you know when there filling the lifeboats and in one case they only put 12 or something into a boat that held 60?Do you know if this is actually true?
It would depend on my circumstances as to what I did tbh,If I was Rose I would have done what she and Jack did stayed on the ship until as late as possible.Must have been horrible for those families that had to get onto the lifeboats leaving husbands and fathers behind:sad:

Yep that is true. The lifeboat were built to accomodate upto 70 men. However one lifeboat, number 1. was filled with only 12. no one is quite sure on the circumstance surrouding the loading of the lifeboat and why so little were placed into that boat.

Although what is known that 2 of the people on board the lifeboat supposedly bribed the crewman not to return to the sinking ship when captain smith signalled them to return to laod more people on board.

These 2 people were Sir Cosmo and Lady Duff Gordon. That bribary sealed the fate of around 50 more passengers that night.

Well there ya go. The bribe was reported to be around £5 which was alot in them days. They gave them the £5 to keep rowing and not to return to the sinking ship despite the Captains calls from the Titanic to do so.

Lifeboat 1 waso one of many that were not filled to capacity that night. its estimated that there was enough room for a furthur 200 people in the lifeboats that night. 200 lives which could have been saved. Many of which were women and small children.
