Is Taggart big competition for Big Brother Launch?

Is Taggart big competition for Big Brother Launch?

Last year it got 4.7 million viewers compared to BB Launch which got about 5.2 million I think.

BB has gone down in popularity, so could Taggart beat BB launch next week?

Annie 26-05-2009 05:50 PM

Taggart.
If thats major competition then BB should give up.

MR.K! 26-05-2009 05:51 PM

'Thires bin a murdir sir' lol

Spike 26-05-2009 05:51 PM

No
An episode of Taggart got just over 3million last week
Taggart has badly decreased in the ratings over the last year so its not the same competition of a year ago
and also it doesn't attract Big Brothers target audience

THARS BEN A MURRRDURRRRR
If Taggart beats BB, then it really is the end.
I can't think of a more dreary programme, apart from Heartbeat (ohjesuss)

Thanks for saying. I remember last year it was pretty close to the BB launch rating, so was thinking maybe it could beat BB this year.

Glad it's doing **** now.

I don't have a TV Guide. I checked online and it said Taggart but no (R). Glad it's a repeat.

Anyone who has tried watching it might well ask!!!!!!!

Last year's was new, this is a repeat. It may take a hundred thousand or two casual viewers from BB, but no more *fingers crossed*.

What about BBC1? Will The Calendar Girls be competition?

BIG-BRO-FAN 26-05-2009 06:11 PM

One of the few worth-watching detective dramas still going.

As far as I'm aware it's a documentary not the film. In which case, no, different audience.

A touch of frost but without the brains........The drama or the script or the acting......Just as you would find in a soap such as coronation street.....Put simply a program that has no class or anything remotely resembling class....

These days maybe (I only catch the ocassional episode as it's usually repeated ad-nauseum and I don't have time to check which ones are new or not) but it was at one time a true classic.

But BB9 final was up against Midsomer Murders which has different audience and they tied!

Annie 26-05-2009 06:24 PM

Ahh I dont watch it.

I haven't watched Midsomer in years, but it was never aimed at any particular target group when I watched it and judging by the ratings it manages just for a repeat, it's very popular (no idea why, it lost it after a while).

A one off documentary about a couple of W.I. ladies on the other hand is definitely not in anyway attractive to 16-34s.

Lol true.

But maybe the doc on ITV2 with Katie and Peter will take away some 16-34s? It's been getting over 1 million recently, and so could take a few hundred thousand away from BB.

The average age of the BB viewer has increased since the first series by 13 years. Younger viewers aren't coming in to replace the older ones.

Well it was better
in its 90mins
but sadly due to this
New Labour Depression
it is now in 60mins episodes.
