Don\'t Diss The Mods

but if you don't agree with the mods then don't come on here. It's your choice to come on here, nobody elses. They do the best they can, especially at this time of year when everybody gets enraged and riled.

Shaun 26-06-2009 01:17 AM

agreed.

Tom 26-06-2009 01:17 AM

I like the site, I like the people (well some of). Why should I not come here just because I don't agree with the way its run?

They are doing the best they can, maybe we should show them some respect. We may not always agree with their decision, but it's their decision to make. This time of year on here is hard as it so busy and so many people get angry and annoyed.

30stone 26-06-2009 01:20 AM

Cheers Ben.

Its sometimes nice to recieve some appreciation, i always feel like the enemy lol.

Iceman 26-06-2009 01:21 AM

The Mods do a fine job, the 2 newest mods were needed, they all do a fine job.

No they're really not. I'm actually really annoyed about that. They're so biased when it comes to making decisions. If they like someone they'll just delete the post and pretend it didn't happen. if they don't like someone they get banned.

Shaun 26-06-2009 01:23 AM

Unfortunately Tom, that's life. It happens. Don't let it get to you. There's no point get riled about it. What's it going to achieve?

rather than turn this site into a bitch fest and slanging match, why can't we just have fun on here and if somebody has an opinion we don't agree with, then respect that, that is their opinion.

Thats not the point. If you're going to have a rule at least have it for everyone and not just those you can be bothered applying it to

Well one it's worse because it Big Brother season (more people) and two i not been on here for 4 months so I wouldn't know or care. It's not worth my time arguing and slagging people, it doesn't achieve anything.

and Tom, again, that's life. It happens. Let it go over you, rather than get hateful about it.

Tom 26-06-2009 01:32 AM

Oh and James, because you locked the other thread, I'm not trolling. You know what I'm saying is 100% right and you don't like to hear it. And no I don't know what I'm doing with the threads either, enlighten me .... (that is actually genuine and not sarcastic btw)

Iceman 26-06-2009 01:34 AM

Well if people didnt make numerous threads about members getting banned then maybe they wouldnt get banned....just a suggestion....

Its actually beyond that ... its the sheer hypocrisy of them banning people for that then letting people get away with insulting other members

Then the answer is don't do anything which will result in a punishment. Simple.

I think it was a matter that possibly should have been discussed via u2u.

andyman 26-06-2009 01:39 AM

Ok, this is for Gary, Tom and MarkW.. Which two members should have been the two new mods?

Iceman 26-06-2009 01:41 AM

I was around all night last night and I dont see a resolution being made in this thread, play dumb and act like you want. People know why they were banned....

I'm not going to name anyone but what I will say is I can think of at least 5 people off the top of my head that would make a better mod and you're one of them

Tom4784 26-06-2009 01:48 AM

I'm in the middle on this. I think last night could have been avoided if threads were locked and an explanation given in the last post (like it normally is). I can see why it irked people, plus how the website goes offline just to delete threads is majorly annoying too.

If I had any feedback for the Admin then it would be the above and give public reasons why a person is banned (perhaps a 'banned list' thread?) that way everything's clear and people won't spam. It's when the admin go all private over decisions which starts trouble.

I disagree with the opening post though. Indeed, generally the Mod and Admin team do a good job but occasionally mistakes are made and I think feedback from posters could do wonders. If I was a Mod or Admin I'd personally want to know how I ws doing and if there was anything I could do better.

Generally though, good job.

For some strange reason, i was thinking about this when i was cleaning my teeth this morning lol.

I think it would be good.

Just so mods and admi could just name whos has got banned, how long for, and if they feel neccessary put why aswell.

Mark 26-06-2009 01:57 AM

Tom and MrGarry given a warning. I've been away for like 2 hours, come back and there's 3 new threads on last night's drama. Let it be, leave it alone, and come back when you can stop trying to cause bad atmosphere around here. Notice how Shaun, Billy, Waldorf and Jen have just accepted it and let it ride? You'd do good to follow in their shoes.

Mark

Should we have a new one / bump the old one.

I think recently we need it.

Even with the trolls we ban because if they are on here for 5 days.. they still get along with people who will miss their posts i think.

It's not strictly to do with last night's drama. Tom was offended that he had been banned for something as petty as spamming yet when Aint_Mad_Atcha called him a "mother*******er" his post was deleted without further punishment.

Rory 26-06-2009 02:05 AM

I love how people think that I'm biased when I've told off members from both ZH and Brotherhood and I'm a member of neither. To be honest, every single one of us works hard to keep this forum under control, but when there are constant bitching threads every night it does get a bit overwhelming. We're not saying that we don't like our job, but when we leave a thread as is we get insulted; when we edit a thread we get insulted.

People may think that certain members are biased because they're friends with certain people on the forum, but believe me I know I've banned some of my friends (who shouldn't take the job personally) and I know 30stone has edited some of his friend's post (I don't keep tabs on the other mod's activity so that's the only thing i've seen).

I'm not sure about all of us, but I treat everyone equally. If there has been an imbalance lately it may have not been me because I've had a busier summer than expected. The job is extremely stressful when you come on here and you see 40 new reported posts a day, but we try our best. I can't imagine having people who are strongly in each group be elected because then it would be chaos.

In the end, we all try our best. It's a harder job than anyone can imagine. When I started I didn't realize it would be as hard as it is, but I've learned to be impartial when it comes to moderating. Sorry if any of you disagree...especially members of the Brotherhood who somehow think I prefer members of the ZH - maybe the reason why I don't edit their posts is because 30stone beats me to it? The time difference usually allows me to moderate towards the later night. And if you think I edit only posts reported of yours it may be pure luck that I've seen the thread before another mod.

And I'm sorry, Tom, if you think I do a crap job as well. We all work as hard as we can to moderate well and we can't please everyone.

Billy 26-06-2009 02:07 AM

What's the ZH?

andyman 26-06-2009 02:09 AM

Yeah keep the who's banned thread active, but locked of course..

From now any members that are given a ban need to be put in the who's banned thread by a mod, pin the thread under general chat.

Tbf, a lot of them have accepted why they were banned. Most the ones arguing now weren't directly involved in last night (i.e. weren't banned).
