Are Channel 4 stupid! It\'s the 9th anniversary!

What a load of idiots at Channel 4.

It's the 9th anniversary. The tenth series, but the 9th anniversary.

If you were born in 2000, it would be your tenth birthday in 2010 not 2009.

Buffoons can't count properly!

Twilight 09-07-2009 02:36 PM

Its been going for 10 year, so its the 10th anniversary:rolleyes:

As I explained on my OP, that does make sense.

If you were born in 2000, you would be 10 in 2010, not 2009.

The tenth anniversary is next year.

fairymoon 09-07-2009 02:39 PM

its the 10th show your wrong gavin

Rozartytype 09-07-2009 02:39 PM

Twighlight is quite right.

cookiemonster 09-07-2009 02:39 PM

we're not falling for it

Captain.Remy 09-07-2009 02:40 PM

We know that, we're celebrating the 10th series of Big Brother: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 = 10.

Owned.

Nope its this year

LaLaLand 09-07-2009 02:40 PM

The tenth series :xyxwave:

BB_Eye 09-07-2009 02:40 PM

Well they had to do something, given that the ratings are so appalling this year that we won't see another season.

I know it's the 10th series!

But that does not make it the 10th anniversary.

There's a difference between the word: "series" and word "anniversary".

Look at a dictionary.

fairymoon 09-07-2009 02:41 PM

started in 2000 so thats 1 01 would be 2 02 would be 3 03 would be 4 04 would be 5 05 would be 6 07 would be 8 08 would be 9 09 would be 10 simple gavin

It's the 10th year, but that does not make it the 10th "anniversary".

For example, if you were born in the year 2000, you would be living your life in the tenth year right now, but the actual 10th anniversary would be next year.

LaLaLand 09-07-2009 02:42 PM

It's a BB anniversary, not a real human being one. Jeez, how is that complicated to understand ? We've had this debate a thousand times before.

BB1 started on July 14th 2000, that makes it 9 years.
It's the 10th series but has being going for 9 years.
Honest, ask Sree to do the maths.:puzzled:

Firewire 09-07-2009 02:42 PM

It's a programme, not a person.

Rozartytype 09-07-2009 02:43 PM

Gavin,
You should complain to Ofcom without delay. This is serious stuff!

DiamondDogTags 09-07-2009 02:43 PM

It's been running for a decade, so it's the 10th series but the 9th anniversary.

Chels 09-07-2009 02:43 PM

it's the tenth anniversary!
if you aren't happy with it; send another complaint of yours to ofcom!

The word "anniversary" is application to absolutely anything and means the same thing.

Therefore, the actual anniversary is next year.

Not this year.

This might be the 10th series, but it does [/b]not[/b] make it the 10th anniversary.

fairymoon 09-07-2009 02:44 PM

Let's make this clear then because you do seem to have the same brain as Sophie's and Aisleyne's put together:

It will be the 10th year the show has been on TV.

Get it now ?

BB started 2000.... THE FIRST ONE

Someone born 2000 isn't age 1 till 2001...............jesus:eureka:

Gavin 09-07-2009 02:49 PM

You don't seem to understand that the tenth year isn't actually defined as the tenth anniversary.

The tenth anniversary is after the full 10 years.

Therefore next year is the 10th anniversary.

Yes but you don't seem to understand how pointless this argument is tbh.

Do you think it would be less confusing to have "BB's 10th Anniversary" during BB11?

Shasown 09-07-2009 02:54 PM

I just bet you were one of those people who argued about the actual date of the millenium celebrations back in 1999/2000 werent you?

Gavin, could you answer one simple little question which county do you live in mate?

It so i never visit there, never, not ever, not once, zero/nil times

Rozartytype 09-07-2009 02:57 PM

Confucius he say:

Ten trees in forest,
Nine gaps in between.

Gavin was probaly one of those people who were convinced the world would come to an end at the end of 1999.
They were wrong about that as well!

I do know that, it's obvious.
Here we do talk in years the show has been on, therefore it's the 10th year of the show.

Wooo at least you learnt something new today.

LaLaLand 09-07-2009 03:08 PM

Yes it is! What does anniversary mean in your opinion?

To me, it means an annual event marking a date at which 'something' happened.

Tenth anniversary of marriage = married 10 years.

BB 10th Anniversary = tenth series OR ten years since the show began.

What's so hard?
