The Spice Girls will reportedly reform to launch the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The move is the brainchild of music mogul Simon Fuller, who was involved in their early career and helped turn the group into one of the most iconic girl bands in British history.

Fuller, 49, told the Sunday Mirror that demand for the Spice Girls remained high. "They stand for so much in British music history and I can't think of a better time for them to get back together for another performance," he said.

The group, made up of Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwell, formed in 1994 and went on to sell more than 65 million records worldwide before splitting in 2000.

A reunion tour last year netted them more than £40 million, with Fuller hinting that a final jaunt could be on the cards. "They will not want to be performing hits like 'Wannabe' in their 40s, but it's amazing how often people talk about another reunion. And I think if they do it, it’s going to be in 2012," he said.
personal im not a big fan of the spice girls but I think the could put on a good show

LOL. We are going to fail.
They should just let China do it every year.

Lewis. 01-11-2009 06:45 PM

Althought saying that, the stadium does look very flashy ;)

Jack_ 01-11-2009 06:49 PM

I think it's going to be **** just like most other things in this country.

Would love to be proved wrong though.

Firewire 01-11-2009 06:50 PM

I'm really excited for it!

MTVN 22-02-2011 05:02 PM

Thought about being a volunteer for this but never got round to it, hoping to get tickets to some events though, gonna have to decide which ones

ILoveTRW 22-02-2011 05:08 PM

I have to get tickets, this will almost certainly be the only time in our lives when the
Olympics will be in the UK.

Have you signed up there?, tickets aren't on sale til March but if you sign up there and tick what events your interested in watching they will send you an email with Prices when they are available

ILoveTRW 22-02-2011 05:09 PM

can this thread be stuck

Smithy 22-02-2011 05:10 PM

Leave it till the last minute, tickets never sell out and they're always rock bottom prices then

Oh no I hadnt, thanks I'll do that now

Lee. 22-02-2011 05:59 PM

I think we're just going to go down without tickets and chance our luck! Although I quite fancy trying to get tickets for the opening ceremony

Angus 22-02-2011 05:59 PM

I volunteered last September and had my interview on 13th Feb - so I've got my fingers crossed I'll be selected. If so, I'll be part of the team delivering the results. If I don't get selected, I'll attend somehow - would be a crying shame not to as I live about 40 mins away!

King Gizzard 22-02-2011 06:02 PM

Controversial opinion alert

Waste of money.

Even though it will be good at the time. It's just not worth it in the long run.
