MJBFAN 01-08-2009 02:25 PM

I haven't been saying "Like"".
I have been using "that's what I'm talking about" a lot. Something I never did before I heard Karly using it.

sotally_tober 01-08-2009 02:26 PM

its irish coloquial language its like the way we use 'Like' as a full-stop in our sentences..personally i dont use it that much but i do say 'Like' sometimes

Hedgie 01-08-2009 02:26 PM

I say it all the time, i'm Geordie :conf2:

RCW1945 01-08-2009 02:27 PM

Do you mean, like, beneath one's conscience.
Like sub-consciously.

30stone 01-08-2009 02:28 PM

I have been doing it since Stuart and Dale last year.

scot 01-08-2009 02:29 PM

I'm scottish and its used here as much as in ireland and geordieland.

oh, sometimes we put an 's' on the end likes

and even this one a lot - likesay.

Ramsay 01-08-2009 02:29 PM

i always say like whenever im talking like

shash 01-08-2009 02:30 PM

It is my pet hate, but even so I have caught myself saying it on occasion, much to my own annoyance LOL

I think outside of Ireland and Geordieland it just does not sound right. Noirin used it to terrible excess though.

bansheewails 01-08-2009 02:31 PM

Don't think I've ever heard whatever being used as a full stop

Go on, give us an example :wavey:

Here, Donegal, lots of people have startiing using it at the end of every sentence or to finish a sentence.

My Mother In Law says it all the TIME a she is seventy! The other day she said

'I need new wallaper and whatever for the living room, not sure about the colour and whatever!'

Whats happening! Is it all Katherine Tates fault?

Tom 01-08-2009 02:40 PM

I do it all the time, everyone does here

cell 01-08-2009 02:44 PM

Even in Canada it's horribly overused...

Lauren 01-08-2009 02:45 PM

I'm Geordie, I say it all the time anyway.:laugh::laugh:
