Question about "text speech"

I was wondering if 'lol' is considered text speech or is that one which is allowed?

Using lol in a normally written post is okay.

In this case it doesn't make the text any more difficult to read, which is the main problem with text speech.

What about OP? (stands for original poster/topic starter) say if you are reply to the original poster you might say OP where did you get this info from?

Unfortunately, i'm too old (19) and didn't get into the whole text speech thing when i was young as mobiles were only just coming out and no one had heard of what 'texting' was. My sister is into the whole text speech thing and to me, it may as well be a different language. I like to read whole full words, people say it's quicker to write and easier to read. FOr the sake of dropping a couple o fletters out of a word, is there really much point?? I'm not having a go, i just don't understand. My text speech vocabularly literally is this-

txt
lol

that's it!

I think some are okay like lol, lmbo, thx, ty, its just when the whole post is written like its in another language and makes things hard to read..thats how i understood it anyway.
