I will be seeking legal advice.

As far as i'm concerned, Big Brother is an "over 18's" program.
People under 18 shouldn't watch it, if they do, they are bound to hear words
like "house *****", "slut", "annoying", "piss-off", "****" etc.
If you are so concerned about your children hearing other people swearing,
then don't let them watch Big Brother. It is a crime to allow people under
18 to watch Big Brother. As this is a Big Brother board, there should be
nobody under the age of 18 here, which means that I should be able to swear
without being banned again. Otherwise, I will be seeking legal advise.

thank you.

Jadesucks.

*Yawn*

How tiresome.

Swearing isn't as bad as physical violence, but cross posting isn't on.

It's hardly productive anyway is it.

WILDCHILD 14-06-2002 03:32 PM

What goes on inside the Big Brother house is what goes on in real life - if ppl cant handle the content of BB, they cant handle life - its reality!

No it isn't. The main Big Brother show is on after the watershed thus allowing parents to make a decision regarding whether their children are able to watch the show given the state of their emotional and mental development.

There is also a highlight show on Sunday around noon and also the live feeds on E4 during the day. You may notice that bad language and so on is filtered during the day thus conforming to decency laws.

Incidently, you have no right whatsoever to demand things from the admin of this or any other site. You should remember that you are a guest on here and you should behave as such. If the admin request you behave in a certain way you should do so or you will, quite rightly, be banned. You have no legal recourse on this, so I wouldn't bother wasting the initial consultancy fee if I were you.

Whilst I agree with the basis of this, you're hardly justifying the site's policy of not having bad language...

This is a site which is open to all reasonable people who have something interesting, constructive or funny to write.

We do have young posters, and I am glad they visit here. However, what we haven't had until recently is anyone who felt it necessary to be extremely offensive.

It has always been a pleasure to post here. Unlike other sites we do not take enormous pleasure in cruel and unkind character assassinations. We do criticise, and we are perhaps a little to personal about some of them, but it is as far as it goes. We intend no real harm.

We have a sense of perspective, and know where to draw the line. I don't want to have to read puerile rubbish like this.

Please, try expanding your vocabulary to include some of the many non-offensive and wonderfully expressive words in the English language.

Otherwise *** off!

WILDCHILD 14-06-2002 03:53 PM

At the end of the day Disco, I cant tell people what or what not to do.
I can delete their posts or try and make them aware of the sites policies as I moderate the board - if people want to swear and be abusive then I am sure they will be banned by the admins of the board - that is not my job.

Yep, well you think what you like. Nobody else thinks that do they?

Why ever not? It's their choice if they want to wacth it isn't it?

1) Please don't swear on the forum 2) I would imagine 99% of people have heard those words before, its fairly common even when walking down the street nowadays. And if people are young and don't understand - to them they are only words.

Surely thats the parent choice - not yours.

Is it? Can you show me where it says this? Or shall I ask Channel4 and see what they say, after all we do have your email address - I could ask them to explain it to you...

Its my site, I choose who can visit and sign up, and anyone (apart from yourself) is welcome here. Nobody ever swears (apart from yourself) and we don't just talk about Big Brother, so anyone can join.

Sorry I didn't realise you owned this site.
Seek legal advice if you like - have fun wasting your money though... I would imagine Channel 4 wouldn't be very happy to hear people spreading rumours that its an over 18's show would they?

Go grab yourself a dictionary, and look up the term libel then look at what trouble you can get in for commiting it.

Im getting a bit annoyed at people like yourself who come around on forums and thinking you own the place.
You go shouting your mouth of and are generally being a pain.

What you may not reliase is this forum has a log, and logs everything you do. It also traces your IP address and which ISP you are using.

If you continue to be a pain, there is nothing stopping me sending your detials to channel 4 and your ISP and see what they do.

Oldgit 16-06-2002 08:49 AM

Surely the point is that anyone who has a login name that expresses an opinion about a contestant is being childish from the start.

I think Alex is a creep, but that is my opinion and I have expressed it enough times. If I were to use the name "Alex_is_a_creep" instead of "Oldgit", however, I would be showing myself to be stupid and childish. I would even say the same would apply if it was a positive rather than a negative thing.

Playing devils advocate on one tinywee point

On my works computer the official BB site is blocked by anti pornography programs and I get a Site prohibited message.

It was the same last year when I was in a cyber cafe, the official BB site is blocked.

So in the minds of work and the cyber cafe at the time, The official Big Brother site is classed as an adult site.

I am surprised the software did not block this site, or any site with the words Big Brother. Luckily I can still post from work

disco 17-06-2002 05:43 PM

I doubt it's blocked due to adult content. Sites are often added to a firewall's blacklist if obviously not work-related. The official BB site is clearly a prime contender.

But what about the cyber cafe ?

And how come I can post on this site from work ?

I am not saying BB is adult, only that some internet outlets have got some policy to block the official BB site
