Star On Sunday: \"BB Staff threaten to walk out!\" LMFAO

MELTDOWN! STAFF TO QUIT TROUBLED BB:

Housemates are unaware of the frustrations among the BB staff 1st July 2009

THE show was in meltdown last night after production staff threatened to walk out.

Staff and producers were locked in talks after two senior backroom staff announced they were quitting makers Endemol.

And, sources claimed, others will follow them. Senior executives held urgent meetings in a bid to try to stop the mutinying crew from leaving the troubled Channel 4 show.

One source claimed: “Morale amongst the team is at rock bottom – they feel strangled and handcuffed by Channel 4.

“They have started to panic over some of the things going on in the BB house.

“Added to this, some of those in the house have been a complete nightmare to deal with.”

BB has already been rocked by a series of walk-outs by
housemates and the lowest ratings in the show’s history.

And there has been controversy about the treatment of contestants after evicted Sree Dasari, 25, was admitted to hospital after cutting his wrists while watching the show.

Sree was well enough to attend filming of Big Brother’s Big Mouth, but our source said: “This incident is more serious than Channel 4 is passing it off as.”

Big Brother shouldn't be held responsible if a former housemate wants to endager himself in the comfort of their own living room.

I know a few of us have already talked about this problem and the first signs of it happened early.
- The abandoned youtube scheme.
It seemed like an excellent idea at first. take the application process back to the beginnings but in a modern twist. Video applications via youtube. A lot of participation too with other youtubers nominating applicants or commenting and analyzing and even 'fans' cheering favourite vids etc.
It was very poorly handled. Many supposed it was just a prank or hoax and a couple of people creating a fake 'official bb' looking page.
After an odd 'selection process' a handful were contacted with nothing more than invitations to the usual queues no different than anyone else.
Quite a few complain videos were made. It was a publicity stunt idea. feigned interest. for hype.
Especially insulting to many people who put a lot of sincere effort into their video applications.
......after a few months the BB Youtube page seemed to have been entirely abandoned. You have expected an Error 404 page.
- Live-feeds canceled.
That was really an 'insult to injury' as they had already used and abused the same online BB community that is dedicated to the live-feeds as well.
The lack of LF also a huge loss for the 'live-feed update' forums that are a huge hype-machine for Big Brothers television programs.
Far from spoiling events - its BB websites, forums and live-feed leaks that compel and hype interest. Even if people dont participate they will see some 'breaking news' topic title online and make a point to watch BBLB or the daily show just to find out more.

After that we just saw things going wrong. Clearly they did not have a cast and threw together 'left-overs' from previous season applicants and 'dummy run' workers already signed on and cleared etc.
Others appear to have been grabbed up by whoever the talent agents had available and owed someone a favour.
Advertisers were gone. Well granted the credit crunch can take blame for that. No new ultra-thin red mobile deals for a while.
But the launch was evident something was wrong. It was strangely subdued as if staff was missing, it had to go earlier than scheduled and needed to be done quick. Hard to explain.
- The house itself was what appeared to be left-over interior designs, props and wallpaper rejected from each of the last 9 seasons.
- As much as I actually appreciated the opening stunt/psychological military 'deprogramming' task and I understand totally the good intentions and seemed like a great idea... ...somehow it backfired. At least as a 'starter'. Whatever the case - this cast did not 'gel' right.
Something just did not come together properly. There is still a strange awkward disassociation. No amount of 'all of us as one' dancing highlight bits can solve it.
After all that there is nothing left to do but these desperation 'Jerry Springer' stunts to try and get anything happening.
Only thing is that also blows the premise and kills it for any BB purists and next thing you know everyones friends and family, ex-HMs are coming and going. Why not just put some cameras in a community recreation centre.

Don't know what is going on behind the scenes but even as far back as the Post-BB9 programs and then starting this season you get the feeling half the BB people were already working on the next stages of their careers. You got the feeling cameramen were filming with one hand and on the phone with job placement agencies in the other.
Writers are just recycling and using up their old ideas saved up over the years but putting the fresh effort in stuff for new projects elsewhere.
You can even sense a few are retiring and are just 'wrapping up' with this, their last season. Less interested in BB and more counting down the hours till they are free and on that boat.

Well that was a long rant but I think that captures it.
