Job Interview :|

Took a huge leap because I'm bored, I've got an interview tomorrow afternoon at 2pm for some sales place. I'm never usually that bothered about them but I'm sh*tting a brick for some reason even though its practically guaranteed I'll get it :bawling: (they're looking for about 30 people)

Don't panic, take deep breaths, thin before you answer a question. Have a question abut the company prepared for when they ask if you have any questions!

Most importantly of all, Don't wear flip flops!

Now go get that job!

IsleOfWeather 12-08-2009 01:13 PM

Tell them that you are tenacious- sales recruiters love that word and will give you the job

xDramatick 12-08-2009 01:13 PM

Good luck Tom, hope you get it! <3

I'm usually the one laughing at red faced people and grilling them for my own pleasure, thats why I'm nervous about it

Thanks all :spin2:

Good luck with it tom ;)

Tom 12-08-2009 02:23 PM

omg, i just got an email from them

"One of the managers will then conduct an informal preliminary interview"

wtf do I wear to that? If its informal I don't wanna go all suited up to realise I didn't have to, but then I don't just want to go smart to realise I had to go all suited up :conf2:

Mrluvaluva 12-08-2009 02:29 PM

Shirt and trousers Tom. Smart but not too formal. Don't bother with a tie or anything. Good luck with it.

Tom 12-08-2009 03:24 PM

So confused now ... watch me turn up in that and everyone else is in full suit, just my luck :laugh2:

Oh well, if all else fails and its a female interviewer I'll just take my shirt off in the middle of the internet, that should get me the job

Mrluvaluva 12-08-2009 03:27 PM

Put a tie in your pocket if you are unsure.

LOL I'm that used to writing internet because its sh*t so I always have to mention it :blush2:

I had it, it was a joke of an "interview". Basically reading my application form and asking me "have you had any experience before?" MY ******ING CV IS IN FRONT OF YOU READ IT YOU LAZY B*STARD.

Pfft, in my day (earlier this year ) we asked more insightful questions such as 'why do you want the job?' and 'if you were a block of cheese, what would you be and why?'

I'll find out by 6pm if I've got to next round of interviews or not (don't really care tbh anymore)

\PJ/ 13-08-2009 02:58 PM

Oh perhaps it went more positive than you thought.

Tom 13-08-2009 07:12 PM

Got a call back, think I'll go but unsure. Just see what happens I suppose (builds the CV up whilst I'm waiting for PGAC )

Mrluvaluva 13-08-2009 08:00 PM

Doesn't hurt to go back. You are under no obligation.

Benjamin 13-08-2009 08:04 PM

Always go to a job looking smart. It's better to be over dressed for an interview, rather than underdressed, especially within sales.

And go back for the call back. It better to make the decision once you know if you have been successful, even if it's just for the ego boost.

It was fine today I just found this "informal" interview a bit silly, just took the advice here and went smart but not too smart. Thats the first I've ever heard of them but they seem quite common. Tomorrow is formal interview though (thats the kind of thing I'm familiar with and used to work in) so oddly I'll be more comfortable with that. I'll go but either way I'm not bothered if I get it or not (RAF is my priority and I'm just waiting until the end of September for PGAC), at least I've had 2 days out :laugh2:

\PJ/ 13-08-2009 10:47 PM

Glad you got a callback, well done.

Tom 14-08-2009 02:04 PM

I slept in. Some lad called James who was in the informal interview with me added me on Facebook yesterday, and he got called back as well and went today. He said it was door to door calling (and they were doing it today to get a feel for the job if he got it) and the interview was actually at 10pm and not 1pm. All day was just doing that. He did a runner when they were waiting for the bus to go to miles out  Glad I didn't waste my time if I couldn't drive there, wouldn't be seen dead on a bus

Mrluvaluva 14-08-2009 02:08 PM

An interview at 10pm?

\PJ/ 14-08-2009 02:09 PM

Oh well perhaps your next job interview may pan out a bit better.

Thats what I thought. I'm glad I never turned up, no way on earth would I stay that late especially on a Friday!! And I'd refuse to go around houses begging for people to buy stuff. Thats just ridiculous, nothing more annoying and its just like a gypsy in a suit. I suppose they're just seeing if they can hack it or not :conf2: Apparently it was door to door sales all day then back into Manchester (8pm bus that takes 2 hours) for an interview.

I don't want proper work anyway after thinking about it and the reality of it, I'm just going to go back to bar work for now. Will keep me going for the time being I suppose (on top of other income I've already got)
