Omg I cant beleive these are counted as children books! They can be quite scary at times! Esp the films!

Fom 19-08-2009 11:05 PM

I set myself a task of re reading all of the books in august. Im currently on 'Order of the Phoenix'... my faves are probably the last 2 as they are the dark ones. I agree the first 3 are childrens books but the books have grown up with the readers... as you get to the final 2 they are very adult.

People often miss it but the books (Not so much the films) link closely with the holocaust, replace Jews with Muggle borns and it fits very weirdly. In the last 2 books especially there are some very important lessons you learn... I don't like the films personally, they lose the magic, anyone that only watches the films then insults the series are not allowed an opinion... its the books where the magic is.

Been reading since 1997,grew up with them! My fav 2 are probably the last 2,they're just brilliant. I do love them all though, either 2 or 3 would be my least fav.

My god! I am 78 pages in on the DH and I have already cried!!
Its so sad already!! :(

Ninastar 26-08-2009 02:51 PM

Omg! Wtf are these books childrens books! I mean they are rather scared but a child reading them would probs give them nightmares! Esp the last book! also its like 800 pages long or something? I think a child would give up on chapter one?

Ninastar 27-08-2009 10:20 PM

Finished it last night. well more this morning tbh. I feel horrible cause the only bit I cried at was when [spoil]Hedwig died!!!!!! I am a huge animal lover and always feel more upset if i hear a horrific story to do with an animal then a human. That sounds mean i know but i think its cause and animal is defenceless and wouldnt know why it was attacked. I'm gunna stop now cause i want to cry and im not making sence anymore?[/spoil]

but it was an amazing book! My fave of them all I think! Very well written.

She said she killed Hedwig because it was the last thing Harry had that held him to his childhood. Taking her out of the picture meant he needed to grow up, or something along those lines anyway.

My sons and I read all the books. I don't think they are too scary Grimm Fairy tales (well the orginals) were much scarier! My 10 year old read DH in a week! Thats brilliant going for him. They are sad because there are no more to look forward to, but have now started on H.I.V.E. and the CHERUB books, which are great too!
