Gang Hang Boy, 7, With Home-Made Noose

A boy almost choked to death after a gang of children strung him up and hung him from a tree with a home-made noose, it has emerged.

Bradley McLachlan, seven, was left dangling inches off the ground after the three boys he had been playing reportedly ran off laughing.

With the rope wrapped round his neck and body, Bradley struggled for air.

But the youngster managed to pull his body up to take off some of the strain around his neck before an older boy who was walking by set him free.

Police believe he could have died if he had hung there much longer.

His mother Sharleen, 30, said: "I feel sick and shocked someone could do this, not least other children.

"This wasn't just a game that went wrong, it's far more serious. I can't get my head around it.

"There were marks under his chin and they right up around the back of his head.

"The police said he could have died if he hadn't been so light and small. It's just awful."

Bradley met the boys, believed to be as young as seven, in Portsmouth's Branbury Park on July 28.

They were playing in a den and told him to wait outside before they invited him in and tied him up.

A month after the assault detectives are still investigating the circumstances.

They made a fresh appeal for information to help identify the children responsible, who are unknown to the victim.

Detective Sergeant Fiona Holland, of Hampshire Police, said: "We need to speak to the children involved to ensure they understand the possible consequences of the incident and ensure whilst they are out playing during the summer holidays they are also staying safe.

"We would also like to speak to the boy who helped the victim from the tree. This boy had no involvement in the incident, but may have seen something that could assist the inquiry."

Maybe we would have been better off if the neanderthals had survived and homosapien died out instead.

That is so awful what kids are doing to others these days, yesterday it was the young girl with cancer getting attacked and now this young boy, it's just, I cannot explain how appalled I am

Kids are certainly very aggresive now,I blame the parenting and lack of morals

Mrluvaluva 24-08-2009 04:05 PM

Why would these kids think it was "funny" to do something like this? It beggars belief.

I don't know where they'd even learn what a noose would do, and how to loop it etc. Well done for the older boy, he didn't even stick around for praise, he's the one keeping my faith in humanity.

A Older Brother could teach one 7 year old
how to do it proper.

We are in a New Labour Destroyed Nation.

That is true, but I wonder who could teach a child that hanging a another could bring enjoyment? Only a sick individual. God knows what runs through their minds.

you cant always blame the parents. parents cant be with their kids 24/7. they can advise and guide but sometimes children will just stray, especially if it leads down to peer pressure.

I was fascinated by horror from an early age, but then again, it wasn't the same then as it is today. I am shocked sometimes by the way some films are so realistic today, but I would have thought that they would repulse and scare viewers, rather than make them think they were cool and funny. Mind you, who knows how they can affect an individuals mind.

but even if the parents dont allow their kids to play those kind of games or watch horror movies, theyre likely to get hold of or be able to play/view them somewhere else... i know i did!
