Tropical Storm to Slam the UK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kwik Weather Forecasting Services pressoffice@kwfs.info www.kwfs.info Tropical Storm to Slam the UK KWFS, 24 August 2009 Major Hurricane Bill has now been downgraded to a strong tropical storm as it now begins to cross the Atlantic and sets its sights for the UK, the west will see some very heavy rain and some strong winds during Wednesday as the storm makes landfall during the day. Senior Forecaster Rob Howard adds “It is not unusual for the remnants of Tropical Storm to head toward the UK but Bill is different, usually major hurricanes make landfall in the US before crossing the Atlantic and heading for the UK. Bill however did not so therefore is much stronger storm and will have a much higher impact on us” Residents in the northwest, particularly in the Northwest are advised to check their local forecast and in coastal areas are urged to prepare for flash flooding. northwest seems to be getting all the rain at the moment, no doubt the ground up there is saturated, i think some flooding will come out of this event.
