:xyxwave:

mcginn 21-06-2002 08:12 PM

yes alex is still in the house poor luck to spencer he should have not farted so much

:bouncy: :spin: :bouncy:

Kaz 21-06-2002 08:24 PM

I know I wanted Alex to stay in the house, and I'm really pleased that he did, but ......... I'm also bitterly disappointed that Spencer has been evicted. Does that make sense? Probably not. :conf:

What I'm trying to say is that although I preferred Alex, I really didn't want either of them to be evicted so early on. There were much better candidates for eviction this week - PJ springs to mind, also Sophie. But it was the housemates' decision, and I bet Jonny in particular is feeling gutted just now. :bawling:

I'm sure there'll be cries of vote rigging, but I'm not so sure. Remember Pop Idol, where Gareth was the 'dead cert' to win according to the press and the bookies? Whereas all along the public actually put Will ahead of him most of the final weeks, and voted him the deserved winner. :dazzler:

What I'm trying to say, I suppose, is that although Spencer had the more vocal fan club, Alex's fans have rallied to support him when he really needed it.

So genuine comiserations to Spencer (it should have been PJ!)....... but......

:hello:  :hello: Well done, Alex! :hello:  :hello:

Mairi 21-06-2002 08:28 PM

I totally agree with you Kaz.

I am absolutely delighted that Alex won tonight as he is the main reason I am still watching BB3 but I am SO sorry for all the Spencer fans.

He really didn't deserve to go out so early.

:spin2::spin2::spin2::spin2::spin2:

WILDCHILD 21-06-2002 08:39 PM

Im a bit gutted too.
I know I would have been even MORE gutted if Alex was evicted but I realy dont wanna say god bye to Spencer.
He looked gutted and I think he thinks the public dont like him - he is gonna get such a big cheer when he comes out!
I wanna see if Kate & Spencer kiss before he leaves!

Alex to win now!:colour::dance::colour:

bananarama 21-06-2002 08:41 PM

Same sentiment here Kaz. After the show I felt quite down instead of entertained. How silly is that!!!

cymru 21-06-2002 08:41 PM

well i must say that yes it was a bit early for spencer to go...hge must have that certain something.....but could you live with it long term.attention turns to PJ......man has a deep disrespect or women.........the mans gotta go

Romantic Old Bird 21-06-2002 08:58 PM

I'm not Spencer's greatest fan, but I felt for him too. I really think he felt he was safe.

I am sure he'll get loads of attention when he comes out

Princess Pink Pants 21-06-2002 09:24 PM

He was sooooooo not happy by them making it look like he really fancied Kate!

Kaz 21-06-2002 09:31 PM

Absolutely, Princess! :spin2:

I think any chance of there being a 'post BB' romance between Spencer and Kate were well and truly dashed by his reaction during his interview with Davina. :bawling:

blinkinlovely 21-06-2002 09:39 PM

sob..... weep

I'm very sad ........ England, Spencer .... both out
:bawling::bawling::bawling::bawling:

But did he not look lovely and so still in character as the 'cooler king', great!
:colour::colour::colour::colour:

Hoever.... Jade - weeping, hugging
Oh coome on , is that a guilty conscience or is the girl having difficulties in the house ...... (tho even I don't know what I mean by that - it's a gut reaction kind of thing):colour:

Sticks 21-06-2002 10:01 PM

I vaguely remember Paul Clarke was a bit evasive on his eviction interview with Davina. When asked what message he would give Helen he said "Can I take you for a drink"

In the press a few days after that it was used as evidence by Big G that Paul was not genuine.

Is there any chance of this being the case here. Paul wanted to present a laddish persona, Spencer wants a cool laid back persona. To say you fancy someone and are in love with them is part of the romantic persona.

Romantic Cool

Plus could there be a game plan to deal with the hounds of the press and throw them off the scent. If he followed the publicity circus surrounding Helen & Paul that may have been a factor

But then we won't know for certain until

a) "What I think of them " appears in the tabloids

b) Kate comes out.

He did say the Scotland trip was still on.

steve_o 21-06-2002 10:11 PM

Although I wasnt a huge Spencer fan I did have a certain amount of respect. I liked the bit's they put together at the end for him,and I suppose he will always be the bb cooler king.

bananarama 21-06-2002 10:16 PM

Watching E4 today I did here Kate saying that she knows Spencer does not fancy her and is quite rude to her at times.

The brutal truth is Spencer is a young man and probably wants to love them and leave them with no interest in a "sentimental" romance. He also likes his women with dark hair. The man is far to laid back to be turned on in a romantic way. Just a jack the lad I think!:bouncy:

chilledbootz 21-06-2002 10:37 PM

YES!!!!! Women with dark hair. I'm soooooo in there. I've cried real tears tonight guys! He's so shy and he was gutted about Jade's comments being shown and how they've tried to make a romance. Funny how in two minutes chatting with Davina he said the word i've been saying all week "editing". Not because i'm a bad loser but because it's a fact.

Spencer you woz robbed babe. I'll come and ease your worries:devil::devil::devil:

Princess Pink Pants 21-06-2002 10:57 PM

Wot R U on about Sticks?

When Davina mentioned the Scotland trip he said 'I said that to all of them'

Paul admitted he fancied Helen didnt he?
Spencer just said it was down to editing and he just liked her.

Soooooo not gonna happen with them 2!

Sticks 22-06-2002 07:50 AM

According to the Sun online Spencer said of Kate "I like her. Shes a nice girl.

Romance is not macho
Spencer goes for the laid back cool. To admit romance and use the word "fancy" is not cool. Even Paul only went as far as saying "I fancy her personality" (Sounded wishy washy according to the pundits at the time )

As for Spencers disdain at all the clips highlighting the "romance", remember last year that H&P were shocked at how their relationship was higlighted as they thought people would think it was boring.

Does anyone among the Clarkeophiles still have a recording of his eviction debrief with Davina, I got the impression that he came across as less committed than he later turned out to be.

to repeat what I said before

We do not know what is going on in Spencer's cranium, but Sophie did tell Kate that Spencer fancied Kate in his own way. (FWIW)

perhaps "I like her. Shes a nice girl. is a big step for Spencer to admit to, as "Can I take you for a drink" was a big step for Paul to admit to

Only time will tell

BTW if Kate comes up for nomination next week I will be voting to evict her for her own good so she can pin Spencer down on this point.

Oh well back to work as the Cyber Devils Advocate to Jade (Although I think Honey does a better job than I, would you like the job ?)

Sorry to contradict you Sticks, but you've totally forgotten about the moment when Davina directly asked Paul whether he fancied Helen during his eviction interview. Let me remind you:

Davina: 'All I really want to know is - do you fancy her?'

Paul: (without a moment's hesitation) 'Yeah, 'course I do'

Davina: And do you want to see her when she comes out?'

Paul: Yeah, yeah, 'course I do'.

A slightly different response to 'She's a nice girl', don't you think?

Paul also explained on numerous occasions why he said 'Do you want to come out for a drink?'. This was because he and Helen had to see if the relationship would survive in the real world, and they wanted to take things a step at a time, wait until all the glare of publicity had died down (although it never did!), and then meet up and see if they both felt the same (which they did).

IMHO there's a HUGE difference beween the way Paul and Spencer reacted to the 'do you fancy her' question, and Spencer doesn't. :colour:  :colour:

Romantic Old Bird 22-06-2002 10:21 AM

To be honest, I think Spencer was in a state of shock. Remember that despite his carefully crafted cool persona, he is 22. Pretty immature still for most middle class, sheltered lads.

It was a surprise that he got nominated for eviction so early, but it would have happened fairly soon I think, his inactivity would have annoyed more and more. Brian got away with it because he was loud and funny, and got stuck in at the end to alleviate the boredom.

As for romance, I don't know. I was never convinced about it from Spencer's side.

I think the comparisons with Paul are stretching it too far. We all knew Paul was besotted with Helen, it screamed out of the screen for days beforehand. The staring into each other eyes for goodness sake, the tangible electricity when they touched. It was breath-taking, and all the more so because you saw the slow build up over the weeks.

Only careful editing by channel 4 ever made it look like he was backing off.

I think Spencer likes Kate, of course, but it wasn't the same sort of thing at all. It might develop afterwards, who knows?
It will be interesting to see how he acquits himself on BBLB.

BTW, I wonder why Lee didn't appear on Wednesday or Thursday?

On the live streaming after the eviction there was massive bitching about Alex on the poor side. Kate was angry because she thought Alex was ungracious in victory.

Eerily similar conversations were heard to those which followed Bubble's eviction last year. Only perhaps more vitriolic, especially by Jonny, who seems to forget that he nominated Spencer.

chilledbootz 22-06-2002 10:26 AM

This was on teletext website. Features comments from the press conference after. Wasn't his reception amazing. I've never heard a crowd like it!!!!:elephant::dance::hello::elephant::dance::he llo
