Channel 4 Take Back Big Brother ??

When BB leaves Channel 4 next year,

Whatever Channel takes it, if BB becomes really popular again with Advertising,Live Feed and all that and back to the old BB we all loved..

I mean if Sky1 take it for Example, and they sign a 3 year contract with Endemol...

Bringing BB Up to Big Brother 14,

And it manages to gain the fans again,

Once Skys Contract with Endemol ends, Would Channel 4 buy it back?

Would they want it back if BB Became really popular again?
Or if they wanted it, Would Endemol and it over to them to make a mess of it again??

hi patrick

No other channel will take it after BB11 i dont think. it is OVER after the summer of 2010

Tom4784 27-08-2009 04:08 PM

It's not gonna be saved, if it's failing on a terrestial channel it won't be picked up by a digital channel because it'll always get lower viewers.

It's not financially viable.

fallenkal 27-08-2009 04:10 PM

One thing you have to remember is that people say that all the time in the entertainment business.

What about the guy who plays Hagrid in Harry Potter? Said he was going to do five years because that's all his contract said. He gets more money and he comes back.

Paula Abdul playing some hard ball? She got what she was holding out for.

This could just be a publicity stunt.

To answer your question, yes. Depending on ratings and estimated profit. TV networks only care about the green, and once they can bathe in it they're happy.

To save BB they should put it to bed for 2013.

MaratSafinForever 27-08-2009 04:18 PM

if it went to sky1 it would kill it, i wouldn't watch, not a chance.

dudeMAN 27-08-2009 04:18 PM

Okay like,
I understand that the show's not done so well this year,
but isn't it still a profitable show?
Like 2 million people is still a lot, right?

Rob! 27-08-2009 04:34 PM

Thing is, people look at viewing figures these days and you'll see "A massive 3.5 tuned in to watch Peggy dump Archie!" 3.5 is huge these days! 2 isn't that far behind. It's simply because it used to attract 8 million plus and big people in leather chairs, suit, a tie and a massive cigar sticking out their gob has decided it's over.
Grr.

Excacally what Davina says,

She says theres no reason why it should end,
Its a good show, people still watch it,

And people across the world still love our version because they full series on Youtube and stuff aswell..

Beastie 27-08-2009 04:38 PM

Don't move it to sky!! I only have freeview :( I want Big Brother to carry on forever.. but it's going to have a break. It will be back though I bet. Not sure if it will be back on channel 4 but it will be back :D

Beastie 27-08-2009 04:40 PM

2 million is a reasonable number of viewers.. bring back live feed next year and the numbers will increase! its still a mainstream television show..

Kate! 27-08-2009 04:41 PM

but they don't care about our opinion, we are only the viewers who watch it religiously, spend our money on voting, and will miss it when it is no more, they won't find anything half as good to take its place, but that counts for nothing.ASSHOLES!!

Tom 27-08-2009 04:45 PM

They said they could renew it because its still profitable so the chances are, no.

bananarama 27-08-2009 06:28 PM

Broadcasters are to scared of the censorship brigade at Ofcom......BB is a hot potato and a loose cannon that could get less well off broadcasters fined because people run off to Ofcom for silly political correctness reasons......

Sadly the format BB is now dead in the water from 2011 never to return anywhere in this country....

Both censorship and the general public have assassinated it.......

nickc25 27-08-2009 06:29 PM

its over, accept it and deal with it. Sooner the better because these type of threads are annoying now.

We can't always get the answer we would like......Truth is truth and facts are facts.......

BB is expensive to put on.£60 million pounds.......A main broadcaster is needed. Sadly censorship controversy to one side even main broadcasters can't get the advertising revenu to survive......

All main broadcasters have rejected bidding for it.... Fact......

If a smaller broadcaster bid they would not have the capital to make it a big event.BB as a small event would lose even more favour......So it's a none starter for both main and small broadcasters alike.........

Like you I wish this was not true........But alas it is........

Like I said, BB has been on for 19 series in total (10 normal series, 6 celebrities, 1 BBCH, 1 BB Panto and 1 Teen BB). To still be the highest rated C4 show is a very impressive acchievement, it outpreforms everything on C4 except for Location, Location, Location(and thats because that is only on for a few weeks, 1 day a week).

CBB7 and BB11 will bring the show to a total of 21 total series.

Everything is going down:

Hollyoaks now attracts 1.2m-1.4m daily, down from the 3m+ of just 2 years ago when the whole "Who pushed Claire" storyline happened.
The Simpsons now attracts an average of 1.8m, when last year it was attracting 3m.
Ugly Betty was getting 4.5m weekly in teh first half of Season 1 (shown in the middle of BB7 slots) with 1 episode getting 5.4m when slotted in between Grace's eviction. Last night it got 1.4m, and this is only 3 years down.

Thanks for those ratings :)

See its really annoying how there axing BB and it gets 2 million but they arent cutting things like Hollyoaks and Ugly Betty (which Im a fan of) and there getting below 2Million!

I do think BB Would do better on another Channel... :(

Just hope they find a good home for it
