Reduced BB shopping budget

Does anyone know the main ingredients housemates bought on a shopping budget? Below are the items I can think of;

Pasta
Tuna
Chick peas
Lentils
Economy burgers

milk
bread
baked beans?

sugar
tea bags

And tobacco as the smokers are selfish gits. Next year's BB house should be completely non smoking so that the smokers don't take the lion's share of the budget.

The budget should have gone up it has been £1 per person per day for years, when food prices (especially rice) has shot up.

Oh and OP, with your signiture it looks like they bought your girlfriend with the food budget as well (don't think she'd be to happy with that).

The prices that BB 'sells' the items at to housemates are not real world prices, at least not for the past few years. There is some evidence of this in this year's series, with housemates reading aloud prices during the shopping task. BB simplifies pricing somewhat.

Oh right, I didn't even think about that at all (and admittedly nor did I pay attention to the prices). I guess that also shuts me up about how they don't get to shop around for offers or Buy One Get One Free's etc that would help.

the pricing is very different

Or possibly the smokers lodge sufficient money or smoking products with BB to see them through their stay, prior to entering the house

The reason they are never allowed to starve (is that a cry of shame, I hear) however badly they spend their money is because BB supplies a large stock of staples, which are not charged for.
Does anyone know precisely what these include, I suspect rice, chickpeas, potatoes.

Its not just the smokers, hair dye, extensions all waste money (even on luxery budget). Smokers should be allowed to have fags outside the shopping budget as it is a legal addiction, made worse through boredom in the house.

Same goes with alcohol, some people (like Hira for religious reasons can't drink it, so that is also unfair - especially as they cashed tokens in as well).

I liked it when Rex called their bluff last year and got special prizes, that was a good idea that they couldn't of risked this time around (no-one would be able to cut the meat, and they were a bit more lazy this year).

While BB may top up their staples surreptitiously in among the supplies bought by the housemates I think they generally reduce the amount of non essentials by a similar amount sometimes this may occassionally be a token amount.

Plus BB also throw in the odd easy task in order for the housemates to win meals and party food etc. They also give the occasional packed lunch and treat.
