Freeview boxes must be Retuned or will not work

"The changes to the transmissions, which will take place on Wednesday morning, will also mean that 22,000 older digital TV set-top boxes will no longer work.
These are the Daewoo DS608P, the Labgear DTT100, the Triax DVB 2000T, and the Portland DP100. Combined set-top box and video recorders that will not work are the Daewoo SV900 and the Bush IDVCR01.
The changes also mean that some 460,000 households which get their TV channels from a relay transmitter will no longer be able to watch ITV3 and ITV4."

The ones that do have to be returned have the minimal % of market share possible, its not really a huge deal - just requires a retune.

MassiveTruck 28-09-2009 10:17 AM

I retune mine all the time anyway.

Beastie 28-09-2009 12:05 PM

I have a TV with freeview digital already in it so I am safe. Phew.

Yeah dude but you still have to retune on Wednesday.

This isn't a switch off, just a retuning because they're changing the frequencies of some of the channels.

King Gizzard 28-09-2009 12:10 PM

Ive got a built in freeview to...I guess on wednesday i ll just have to go on the settings and retune it somehow?

Yeah - it's usually under menu and install. If you run that, it will sort things out.

Basically, you need to re-install everything again.

It will be a handful for me. I've got 3 Freeview TVs and a couple of boxes.

Lol yeah I am sure I have done it 2 or 3 times before. They just like retune freeview and I am sure they may add extra channels im hoping? :D

Lauren 28-09-2009 12:33 PM

No extra channels, just better coverage of Channel 5 for some people AFAIK. I've been getting messages on my freeview for the last few days when I go on C5 about the retune.
