I hate the idea, School teaches a lot more than the academic subjects, it teaches you how to talk to people, teaches you respect and status. You learn how to communicate and most of all you have fun.

I know some people have wreckless schools or are bullied, but you learn so much from everything. Even the basics like waking up early and working all day, teaches you the basics of attendance and punctuation.

Not at my school they didn't, pupils had authority over the teachers and it was only a good day if they actually taught you academic subjects :joker:

If people want home schooled then thats up to them. I don't get why people say it means they won't get a social life though.

I think the worst thing about being homeschooled is that you would get so lonely,you'd hardly ever leave your house! I was bullied in school and it was pretty **** sometimes but you need school to grow up!

It does though. Yeah some academics arent up to par, but, if you feel that way, you can always tutor your kids at home from time to time.

The thing is nowadays, its bad enough that kids spend the majority of their time socialising on the internet, so there is already that cyber experience taking away from real life experience. If you want to add home schooling to that, those kids wont know what to do with themselves, in a a social situation.

It's the crappiest thing every imo!

You would have next to no friends, have no social life, hardly ever leave the house, and grow up a very unconfident person who isn't all the smart because of it all!

I mean, teachers have degrees in the their subjects, and have been studying them years, and know the courses inside out... how can your parents/1 tutor compensate this? Imo, they can't! :)

I disagree with it really, especially during secondary school.

You can't make friends as well, you pick up certain social skills when you are at school..
Which you will miss out on if you dont go.

I think it makes it harder when you have to start college and work.

I don't know about you but from being 3-16 all my friends came from school or one or two lived on my street.

Mine were a mix but mainly from home. If your only friends are from school then you've got a bit of a social problem.

Why?
I was at school for majority of the time, I had friends in my class and I always met up with them and hung out with them. Doesn't seem like a social problem too me? Quite the opposite.
Obviously when I reached college I branched out into even more people, but at school you don't think about it, you naturally hang out with people you see the most.

You make your first friends through school - so unless you did things outwith school, like Cubs/Brownies or a sport, you would find it hard to make friends, I think.

I just think its daft if all your friends are from the same place and in the same circle. Its better to have wider groups of friends and I don't think its very sociable to just keep with the same people all the time.

Home Education is something that you can't say is bad unless you actually tried it.
and you obviously know nothing about it if you think you have no social life or friends:/
